QUESTAHOLIC PRESENTS

An interview with Kexy

By her loving bronzed son.

<::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::}]xxxx()o
October 2017 002.jpg

LUKE

Where would you like to travel one day?

Lots of places! Japan, whole of South America, Scandinavia, Finland, Russia!

What's your favourite food?

Unfair question, since I love lots of foods, but let's say Tiramisu!

October 2017 003.jpg

What's your favourite colour?

Blue!

Coffee or tea?

Good question, depends really. I try to limit coffee consumption since I don't want to develop a caffeine tolerance. Need that espresso hit when I hit the rock bottom. I love tea, but I have it even less than coffee. Idk, depends on the preparation and kind.

October 2017 004.png

If I was suddenly lying unconscious on your doorstep, what would you do?

Check if you really are unconscious; if you are, then pull you inside and call emergency.

I'm gonna hate myself for asking this, but is Kexy actually sexy?

Idk, what do you think?

CAM

What does your name mean, and why have you chosen it?

I always thought that Kexy is just a cool and interesting name, and a cute version of *drumroll* sexy, so that's why I chose it. I've heard from Finnish friends that Kexy sounds like Keksi, Finnish word for cookies, so that's even better . Used to have a "kewl" at the end too but removed it since that just felt extra.

If you were a liqueur what would you be?

Baileys Irish Cream!

October 2017 005.jpg

Please elaborate on your son?

He's my youngest child. His skull is made of bronze which created complications in the birth, so after him I never could have a child again. For the best, tbh, since one like him is bad enough. He's also really attracted to organic stuff, which is how he came across Tosols. He tries his best, but he needs a wife to help him. [Editor’s note: Wait a second, “youngest”? DO I HAVE SIBLINGS?]

October 2017 006.jpg

WERE

Can I buy Choto?

I don't support human or bronze trafficking, sorry.

WASCH FORTY THREE PLUS TWELVE

SIXTY NINE

How long is your face?

As long as the distance between my pinkie and my thumb.

When does the world end?

When Choto says he hates bronze, when Wolffi says he likes me, when Herblaw's HCIM dies.

KATATONIC

Would you rather be a banana or an apple?

Apple, then people will ship me with Draco Malfoy's actor Tom Felton.

October 2017 007.jpg

Do you have any pets irl?

His name is Choco, he was a stray, he's 9 years old, he's a little shite.

October 2017 008.jpg

Main goal in RS at the moment?

MQC, but I haven't properly played RS for 3-4 weeks.

TYCO

What is your earliest Runescape memory?

Will be either watching my friend die in deep wildy and running back all alone, in full rune, scared and nearly crying, with all the revenants circling around me - or meeting one of my oldest friends in Lummy!

You get a ticket to visit Gielinor IRL. Where do you go first?

Prifddinas.

October 2017 009.jpg

What do you think should be the next thing added to Runescape? Feel free to pick anything!

More screen time and dialogue for Wahisietel.

You get 30 seconds of full attention from Jagex. What do you say?

Thank you for making this game. Obo, Ollie, Orion, Stu, Jack, Shauny, Purpur, Raven, you're all awesome. Also please make a more proactive PR rather than a reactive strategy.

Tell us a little about your family.

My dad's a cardio-thoracic surgeon, my mom's director of communications for one of America's largest health insurance companies. I live with my parents, my maternal grandmother and my dog. I am the second oldest in our extended family from my mother's side but I don't interact much with them. Interact even less with dad's side.

Tell me your darkest secret that would make your son scream in fear.

I wanted a son made of runite, I got stuck with a bronze head. Also Sliske might or might not be his dad.

October 2017 010.png

[Editor’s note: I KNEW IT]

ALASKA

Tennant or Glen. You can only pick one.

Urgh. Fine. Tennant.

Can you share one or more standout childhood memories you've got?

I remember waking up on Christmas day one morning when I was 5... and finding this cute mechanic christmas tree with lights on it. Wasn't sure if it was Santa - mom said it was - but ever since then, to this date, I have a ball decorating the tree with the little decorations that came with it.

Also, that time when I first held my little puppies. They were only one day old, and they fitted in the palm of my hand. It just overwhelmed me how something could be so small, so innocent and I knew then that I'd be able to love little else the way I had just begun loving them.

Do you have some examples of your favourite works in storytelling (books, television, films, etc.). What is it that makes them appealing for you?

I love the Pellinor book series. It has good world building and complex emotional and coming of age themes under the veneer of high fantasy and adventure. Also love Broadchurch - it's not your ordinary crime show, it's also about how the crime impacts people's lives and how it can destroy people in more ways than one.

October 2017 011.jpg

What does your work desk look like (e.g. any random items scattered about right now?)

Clutter

October 2017 012.jpg

Favourite Game of Thrones character and why.

Urgh. Jaime and book Tyrion. Maybe.

October 2017 013.gif

What's a challenge you've encountered in life, and how did you get through it?

I think last year I entered this really bad phase where I was extremely homesick, nothing was working out and a lot of stuff was literally collapsing. I became very addicted to Runescape. I would play as soon as I came back home and I would stay up till 4 am on a weekday. I knew what was happening and that made me really upset, but the more upset I became, the more I played. Talking to my mom helped a lot, but it's hard when she's a 16 hour long flight away.

I think what eventually did make a positive impact though was things heating up in Taekwondo and someone from the Tab reaching out to me, asking me to write for them. It made things better, and by that time the semester was drawing to a close, so that gave me that extra push too.

If you got handed $1,000,000 from a nice benefactor tomorrow, what would you spend some of it on first?

Paying for a luxury world cruise for me and mom.

What was Nkuku doing last time you saw him?

Looking at Wahi in that art I commissioned from Saxspieler.

October 2017 014.png

Top 5 celebrities you're attracted to both mentally and physically.

Tbh... I have more of an attraction to characters than celebrities since I don't really know the celebrities' personalities. The one exception might be Keanu Reeves though, he sounds awesome. Also Iain Glen for his voice (if that counts?).

October 2017 015.jpg

Do you have any particular favourite quotes?

I think Wahisietel in Missing, Presumed Death, when he ponders on whether Sliske is still Zarosian: "What we believe is irrelevant, what we know is important". Kind of sums up my views on things like religion.

QUESTCAPING

Ayyyy how was Runefest

Ayyy it was great!

CHOTO

When did you start playing?

I've been playing since 2007, but my current account is approximately 8 years and 11 months old.

What was your very first accomplishment cape?

Untrimmed invention!

If I were to visit your country, what do you think I should do first?

Visit me, of course!

What are your favourite cities/locations, both in RS and in real life?

Prif, Tav, Menaphos and Darkmeyer in RS, London and Berlin irl.

October 2017 016.jpg

Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?

I used to say "the world goes around on hope" but it's been ages since I actually said it.

Which quest you believe to be the best?

The World Wakes, personally, since it's what got me back into RS.

October 2017 017.png

Do you play an instrument? If not, which instrument/s would you like to learn?

I don't play, but I'd love to learn the violin and piano!

Tell us the story behind your name!

I already answered the story of Kexy for Cam, so I'll talk about my irl name. My name means part of god, and I've heard a lot of jokes like "Are you the Higgs Boson? 'Cause you're a particle of god!"
[Editor’s note: What happened to mankind?]

How many languages do you speak? Which one would you like to learn?

I speak English and Hindi. Would love to learn the Nordic languages and German.

If you had to escape your country immediately, what's the one thing you'd take with you?

My wallet.

In a scale of 1 to 10, how good am I as son?

11.

In a scale of 1 to 10, how good disastrous am I as a father?

Minus 11.

Have you found a suitable mother for Tosols?

I don't want you to suffer through an arranged marriage, which is why I leave the choice up to you!

You're a Game of Thrones character. Who are you?

The Night King. I want everything dead.

October 2017 018.png

Best film ever?

*cough*Labyrinth*cough*

Best book ever?

TOO MANY TO LIST HERE!

October 2017 019.png

Welp, this is it. Thank you so much Kexy for such a lovely interview, and thenks everyone for your uninterrupted support! Have a great month.

CLAN QUEST PEOPLE

An interview with clan vet Rei

By Alaska

<::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::}]xxxx()o

Howdy everyone. It's time to get to know one of our long-time clanmates a little better - and this month is regular discord lurker, Rei!
October 2017 021.jpg

[OfficerLuke]

Q1: Where would you like to travel one day?

A1: Mexico, and Europe, I don't know where exactly in Europe, but just Europe in general.

Q2: What's your favourite food?

A2: Chicken Wings by far, there are so many different flavours that one can never get tired of chicken wings.

Q3: What do you want to grow up to be when you were a kid?

A3:
I actually had no idea until the very end of upper secondary school.
And I wanted to become a game developer, no matter how difficult it'd be.

Q4: What's your favourite colour?

A4: Blue.

Q5: Coffee or tea?

A5: Coffee by far, nothing is better than a good Tim Hortons coffee.

October 2017 022.jpg

Q6: If I was suddenly lying unconscious on your doorstep, what would you do?

A6:
Probably call 911. but also I would think on how you got to my place since I live out of town.. I also don't know what you look like IRL.. but most importantly id call 911.. I don't know what to do with an unconscious person.

[Katatonic]

Q1: Do you have any pets irl?

A1: I do! I have three cats and two dogs.

Q2: Which would you prefer movies or circus?

A2: Movies for sure, I've been to a few circuses, or is it circi.. when i was younger, but now I definitely find more enjoyment out of movies.

Q3: What is you main aim in RS other than Completionist?

A3: I don't plan on getting completionist cape.. but I do plan on getting max cape eventually, as well as 120 mining.

[Tyco]

Q1: What is your earliest Runescape memory?

A1: I think its my earliest, getting scammed by the classic Trimming Armour trick.. lost full Mithril that day.. 3- icon sad.gif I also remember getting hacked, but when I got my account back I had better armour and stats, and a few quests were done as well.

October 2017 023.png

Q2: How would you describe yourself in-game? Noobish, rich, adventurous, bankstander, on-the-go or maybe a lorehound?

A2: 40% banksander, 60% noob. Though I replaced my bankstanding with mining, so thats productive right?

Q3: You get a ticket to visit Gielinor IRL. Where do you go first?

A3: The Clan Citadel.. I imagine seeing a huge castle that’s not crumbled down from war would be quite amazing to see.

October 2017 024.png

Q4: What do you think should be the next thing added to Runescape? Feel free to pick anything!

A4: Anything you say… 15- icon wink.gif then how about jagex finally give us what we all want, Sailing. Kidding, I would like Jagex to rework basically all the old skills that are outdated and just kinda meh.. (Looking at you Farming and agility).

Q5: You get 30 seconds of full attention from Jagex. What do you say?

A5: I’d tell them to just give in to our demands and release Sailing already.. Like cmon.. (are these sailing jokes old now? haha) Jokes aside, I don’t know what I’d say, to be honest I couldn’t even pick out what JMods look like IRL.

Q6: Tell me your darkest secret that would make all vyrelords bow down for you in fear.

A6: I lowkey autoclicked 10 mage levels years and years ago.. But shh don’t tell anybody..

[Alaska]

Q1: Favourite: 1. Movie, 2. TV show and 3. Book?

A1:
My favourite movie is Superbad, I’ve seen it probably 20 times and I still laugh each and every time.

My favourite show is Daredevil on netflix, the action scenes are amazing and Charlie Cox is a really good actor as well. I’m hyped for The Punisher.

My favourite book is actually a trilogy called The Night Angel Trilogy. Unfortunately I suck at summaries so a quick run down of it is an orphan who steals for a living for I guess you can call it a Gang of other orphans meets the legendary Night Angel.. Aka Assassin, and wants to become one of them to escape the life he’s in now.

My little summary probably butchered it but if it sounds interesting check it out, or just check it out anyway. It’s definitely a book for adults.

October 2017 025.jpg

Q2: I kinda see you as 'yes, the clanmate who loves rap music'. I know you're into other genres of course, but what do you like about rap most? And who's your all time favourite artist?

A2:
The first thing like in any other song is the beat, if I don’t like the beat I usually won’t listen to the song. In rap the beat is just as big as the rapper. Lyrical content aside because I don’t listen to much lyrical rap, I just like how the rapper flows on the beat. . The producers are a huge part of it as well.

My all time favourite artist is Lil Wayne, all his Carter albums are classics. Despite what people say he quite literally was the best rapper alive at one point. To get him on your song back in 2008 was a huge deal.

My favourite Producers in rap are probably Ronny J, OG Parker, Southside, Metro Boomin and Zaytoven.

Q3: What's a significant challenge in life that you encountered, and how did you get through it?

A3:
College by far. To get through it I basically pushed myself and told myself I’d regret it if I dropped out. I still hate school, but I’m happy I graduated.

Q4: Got any siblings?

A4: Nope! I’m happily an only child. 2- icon smile.gif

Q5: Which people do you admire most in the world? (can be any type of person, for any reason).

A5:
I admire the people out there who are able to overcome their anxiety, whichever it may be for and become a better person for it. I myself have bad social anxiety which has gotten better over the years, but sometimes I still struggle. For those who do have it and don't know where to start, I know its hard to do but you just have to attempt and force yourself to do it, whether it be going out with some people you hardly know, or going to a party. Or whatever it is related to your anxiety, just try, it does get better.

Q6: What item of clothing do you wear more often than anything else?

A6:
A pair of pants. I find it difficult to find pants that fit nicely and that I like, so I only own three pairs that i constantly wear. Plus pants never get dirty right?

Q7: Favourite Game of Thrones character and why.

A7:
Bronn and The Hound. Simply because they make me laugh every time they are on screen, and they have both had considerable character development. Not to discredit the other characters who’ve also developed. I simply like them the best because they’re funny too.

October 2017 026.jpg

[A Seafarer]

Q1: Describe your perfect day, from wake to sleep.

A1: Waking up to no responsibilities and not having to do anything and just relax, play games, watch movies or whatever all day long.

Q2: If you had to listen to one song on repeat for the next year, what would it be?

A2:
Oh boy, I normally do just listen to a few songs on repeat for a long time, but just one song for a full year? Damn. As of the songs i currently like, I’d have to say XO Tour Lif3 by lil uzi vert or Stars In The Ceiling by Quavo.

Q3: If you had to give up chicken wings or pizza forever, which would it be?

A3: Pizza man, I can’t give up chicken wings ever.

Q4: If there was one person you think could rap over RS music, who you think would pull it off?

A4: Hmm I’d have to say Travis scott still, or Quavo, I think some real Wavy autotuned vocals would suit RS music.

[Choto]

Q1: When did you start playing?

A1: Late 2003 or early 2004. IDR exactly.

Q2: What was your very first accomplishment cape?

A2: 99 Cooking. I know, I’m a noob.

Q3: If I were to visit your country, what do you think I should do first?

A3:
Turn around and leave.. Joking of course. I’m not sure about the tourist spots of Canada.. Out east there are old Forts with cannons.. From like pre ww1 era i think, so if you are into that.. I’d go there. Other then that I don’t know, I myself haven’t travelled much at all.

Q4: What are your favourite cities/locations, both in RS and in real life?

A4:
IRL I’d say Florence, Italy because of assassins creed. They are really good at recreating the locations in their games. Priff is my favourite location in rs because its good for skilling :)

October 2017 027.jpg

Q5: Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?

A5:
My favourite phrase is fuck it.. If you want to do something but also are questioning yourself on if you want to do it or not, just say fuck it, and do it.

Q6: Which quest you believe to be the best?

A6: Hmm.. Maybe The World Wakes.

October 2017 028.png

Q7: Do you play an instrument? If not, which instrument/s would you like to learn?

A7:
I don’t play any, but I would like to learn music theory and maybe piano/keyboard. I would like to produce my own music so I’d like to learn that as well.

Q8: Tell us the story behind your name!

A8:
Its a shortened version of part of my Username which is Reian, according to my dad who came up with it, since I was 8 at the time its just another way to pronouce my IRL name which is Ryan. In all the clans I was in before this one everyone just called me Rei. so there it is.

Q9: How many languages do you speak? Which one would you like to learn?

A9: I only speak one, which is obviously English. But I would like to learn Spanish.

Q10: If you had to escape your country immediately, what's the one thing you'd take with you?

A10: Money.

Q11: What do you do for a living?

A11: I don’t know yet. Right now I’m just working and saving money so i can finally move out for real and hopefully start a career.

Q12: You're a Game of Thrones character. Who are you?

A12: Hopefully one that’s still alive. As for a specific character..hmm maybe Podrick?

October 2017 029.jpg

Q13: Best film ever?

A13: I know I previously said my favourite movie is Superbad, but for this one I’ll say John Wick 1 and 2. Excellent action scenes.

Q14: Best book ever?

A14: I’ll keep this the same as my previous answer and say The Night Angel Trilogy, I also like Brent Weeks other series called The Lightbringer.

Thank you Podrick-I mean, Rei, for letting us get to know you a bit better! You're an awesome person to have a conversation with, and my world has been turned upside down with this new information on your username. Can I still pronounce it as 'Ray'? 1- icon biggrin.png

PS: And thank you so much Alaska for having helped this month. Happy birthday!

CLAN QUEST WAS HERE!

October 2017 031.jpg

Annotated picture: https://clanquest.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=6319

Clan Quest attended RuneFest this year, and what an attendance! Over 15 clannies met in London, many coming from overseas. Some left right after the Fest, some stayed a bit more, and rumours say Santa is still there.

There are some testimonies and pics from those who attended. Enjoy!

"I think the best part of the show was meeting all the other Clan Questers."

"Runefest was super memorable.. got to meet and hug clannies irl after talking to them for so long.. conversations flow easily and endlessly. Siiyan's custom cq jacket looks even better in person. Got to meet Redlady, a new clannie and the girl that drew Alaska's YouTube profile picture which is nice. Tyco gave me surstromming."
-Santa

"What I liked most about RuneFest, was meeting my fellow clan mates. Seeing what kind of persons they actually are, and talking with them to learn what they are passionate about. It reminded me why I am in Clan Quest, and why I spend so much time on making it a safe and open place for everybody who wants to join. However, if I had to choose a favourite moment, being able to interview Mod Mark and Mod Raven for the RSBANDB Update podcast was kinda badass, and being able to show our gratitude to our contributing clan members by promoting them to Low Council in real life was a unique experience for everyone."
-Cireon

“So Runefest 2017 was my first ever RF! I’m relatively new to the game and the community, only been playing for a couple of years, and I had a great time. I met with Questcaping and Kexy, who were the ones to introduce me to the Clan, and then got cornered by a whole bunch of other clannies! It was great to meet a big bunch of you and get a shirt, photos and the whole shebang. You can spot me in the RF photos because of the neon pink jacket I was wearing, and bonus points if you hear me asking the final question in the Lore Marathon. Looking forward to next year!”

"Having never been to a Runefest before, I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Needless to say, I was very impressed and excited by all that was on offer throughout the day. The activities available were all top notch and the stage events generated a lot of hype. The highlights were the 'Runescape Reveals' panel, highlighting the next 6 months of updates, my favourite reveals being the Pirate Quest finale 'Pieces of Hate', and the 'Dimension of the Damned' gamemode. Another highlight was the 'Lore Marathon', bringing in new information, and expanding the already vast amount of lore in the game. All in all, I had a great day learning more about the game, and hanging out with the other members of Clan Quest."

Draziw seems to be performing a magic trick.

“This was my first RuneFest and naturally I was alternating between irrational anxiety and rational hype. I had around 3 people whom I was looking forward to meet but I had no idea how meeting up with the clan was going to go. I am not a popular player and I don't chatter a lot. But, I decided to take Miss Alaska's advice to heart (something along the lines of "omg just suck it up and say hi or I will slap some sense into you") and decided to be brave. And my efforts were rewarded by with an interrogation by Draz at 8:30 in the morning (and also a free breakfast <3 thank you). And boiiiiii did I have a lot of fun! From fangirling at lore talk and shoving my list of ships at Mod Moltare to getting a selfie with Mod Ollie and Shauny and seeing Mod Lord play live, I could unabashedly be the nerd that I am. I think I received an experience unlike most others - I got to wear Tyco's quest cape, I got Draz and Sethron to carry the cape behind me bridal style, I got to be the butt of short jokes and I got lifted mid air by Tyco. Thank you, you three and Cireon, Proto, Santa, Cyan, Symun and Xenon for being my "gentlemen" escorts and giving me enough male attention to last me the next decade. This was an unforgettable and untradeable experience.”
-Kexy

October 2017 041.jpg
Proto at RuneFest

“Runefest was one hell of an experience, but I gotta say -- what made it for me was the people. I've met up with people I knew online before, but never so many all at once...! From the start it was a whirl of learning names and trying to remember who was who (confession: I woulda got Herblaw and Cyan mixed up so much more at the picnic were it not for Cyan wearing a hoodie saying "Cy"), but god damn, everyone was so much fun to hang out with. Even when I didn't remember who they were. Hanging out with people at the International Meal and then at Runefest itself was so much fun -- the clan chat banter got transposed perfectly into real life. Squeezing everyone into a photobooth was quite an experience as well! And meeting JMods in person at Runefest was sensational -- chatting to them as normal people (well, normal people and Mod Raven), just normal people/raven overlords who happened to make this amazing game. If it had just been a series of talks and activities... I probably still would've gone, but I wouldn't have liked it anywhere near as much. What made Runefest brilliant was all the people there.”
-Questcaping

October 2017 042.jpg
Questcaping as the Barrows Sister. GO SMITHING

I think you've already realised that everyone mentioned that meeting clannies was either the best or one of the best things of RuneFest.
This is irrefutable evidence that we belong to the best clan ever.
Go Brassica, go bronze, go CLAN QUEST!!!!

I hope I'll meet some of you next year!

PS: Happy 25th birthday Cireon!

The Last Elegy
A Clan Quest story
By Tyco Elf

August 2017 026.png

Chapter 3

The mage swore as Airborne fell on top of him as they both hit the ground. Sethron, who had witnessed everything in what had appeared to be in slow motion, suddenly snapped out of his trance as he realized he had a second chance. His energy was suddenly back after watching his heroic friend’s sacrifice. As the experienced ranger he was, he drew an arrow from his quiver and put it on the bowstring in one motion. He felt the weight on the string as he drew back the arrow to its full capacity. He raised the bow and looked at his opponent. He wouldn’t miss this time.

And then the bowstring snapped. Sethron fell backwards as the sudden break made him stumble. The sound of metal against rock echoed as the bolt slid across the floor after cutting the bowstring. The hooded figure didn’t waste time to reload his right crossbow and raised his left one, this time aimed in between the adventurer’s eyes. Sethron felt the blood turn into ice as he saw the ranger’s finger harden around the trigger. Time itself seemed to have slowed down as he saw his life flash before his eyes. Then the hood fell off.
- Surprise!
The room went silent. After a dramatic pause, Sethron finally got his voice back.
- WHERE IN BRASSICA’S GARDEN HAVE YOU BEEN?!?!
- Is that what you say to your saviours?
Hemsky lowered his left crossbow and turned towards his companion, who was still struggling to lift Airborne’s heavy body from him. He sighed and walked towards them, grabbing Airborne and slowly but surely lifted him up with a groan. The mage, now finally free, got up on his legs and removed his hood as he began to brush the dust off his robes.
- I decide to heal him and the first thing he does is to charge me. What in the world happened to him?
Tothli picked up his staff and looked as Hemsky dropped Airborne beside Kappa and leaned him on the pillar. He put his fingers on the neck of the body.
- He’s just unconscious. I think he fainted from the shock when the spell hit him. Are you OK, by the way?

Hemsky turned towards Sethron, whose heart was beating like a hammer on an anvil. Seconds ago he had been in a life or death situation and now reinforcements were here. He tried to answer, but realized his mouth was completely dry as his first attempt to talk failed. He nodded in response and closed his eyes as he felt the adrenaline slowly fade out. Sira, who had been silent this whole time, finally managed to stand up despite her injuries.
- Please tell us you have a teletab!
Tothli opened his backpack while walking towards her. He then took out a blue-greyish flat stone with an inscription on it and handed it over to the adventuress.
- There you go, one-way ticket straight to home.
Sira’s eyes shined. Home. There wasn’t any other place on Gielinor that he loved more than the floating citadel in the sky. She accepted the teletab and embraced it as if it was her own child. Tothli continued and took out another teletab for MsKonnan. As he bent down to the sitting adventuress, she hugged him and gave him a light kiss on the cheek. Tothli turned red as he handed over the teletab and turned the other way in embarrassment. At the other end of the room Hemsky also gave out teletabs to Kappa and Sethron.

Cireon smiled. A moment ago, he thought they would all meet their end and now everyone would soon be home. He could already hear the smith’s complaints when returning with the almost unrecognisable shields that had been repaired a couple of days ago. Oh well, he could deal with that after a large cup of coffee. Thinking about shields, he remembered that he was still unarmed. Hemsky yelled to Cireon.
- We are ready to head home!
- Just a second, I have to get something.
With some effort he stood up and stretched his back before approaching the dead body of Nomad. He gripped the handles of his trustworthy weapons and tried shaking them a little. The rapiers didn’t move. He sighed and realized they were stuck deeply into the wall. This was going to take a bit of power. Without hesitating, he put his foot between the rapiers, on the body, and groaned as he began to pull with everything he was worth.
Then everything happened so fast.

The rapiers were released by the force of Cireon’s muscles and were unstuck. As the adventurer lost his balance from the sudden release, a hand grabbed his ankle with an iron-hard grip. Unable to keep his balance, Cireon fell backwards on the hard floor. Nomad raised the adventurer’s leg with his left hand as if he was holding up a fish.
The soul generator, that had gone lifeless after the battle came back to life. Lightning crackled around the spires on top of it as its activity increased exponentially. Nomad quickly pulled forth a scroll from his robe, slammed it into the wall and began chanting.
- Vagus animis egredimini de loco isto creatorem amplector.
- CIREON!!!
Lord Earth stood up and ran towards them as if his injuries were a lie. Tothli looked at the running adventurer for a split second before sprinting after him. The scroll merged with the wall and formed a shining white portal. Nomad took his spear and slowly started to walk through it, dragging the struggling Cireon with him.
The soul generator, like if it knew its master was heading to safety, suddenly released a beam of white light from its spires that pierced the underground roof towards the surface. Bricks began to rain from above as the internal structure became unstable and the already weakened pillars began creaking from the pressure. Tothli screamed without looking back.
- GO NOW! I will be right behind!
He heard as several teletabs broke around the room and teleported their owners to safety. In front of him Lord Earth was dodging falling debris that fell faster every second. He knew that neither Cireon or Lord Earth would have the means to get to safety even if they somehow reached each other. He had to reach them before they were buried alive.

Cireon was desperate, if not in full-out panic. He flailed his arms in desperation to find anything to grab onto as his body slowly started disappeared into the portal. But there was nothing, not even a hole in the floor that he could grab as he saw Nomad’s hand drag his leg through it. Then he heard someone shout his name and looked up. Lord Earth ran through the rain of falling debris and threw himself forward the last meters before landing in front of his ally and grabbing his hand with everything he got.
- Do not leave me!
Cireon took his hand with gratitude, but whatever luck Lord Earth had must have ran out as falling bricks started hitting him. Tears rolled over his cheeks as his shoulders, ribs and legs felt the full force of the debris. To make it worse, Cireon was still being dragged into the portal despite the added resistance.
The last of the pillars that still were standing gave in, causing the whole room to shake. A cave-in was inevitable. Cireon looked at Earth and smiled.
- There must be something wrong with me.
More tears rolled from Lord Earth’s cheeks as he began shaking his head. Despite everything that was falling on Lord Earth, Cireon knew that it wasn’t the physical pain that made him cry.
- No. Please, don’t. Do not say it. It’s not true if you don’t say it.
Lord Earth looked directly into the eyes of Cireon. He wanted to be mistaken, but he knew he wasn’t. The smile that Cireon had, it was the smile of goodbye. Cireon closed his eyes.
- You are Earth, yet I see heaven in your eyes.
As the roof fell down from above, he let go of Lord Earth’s hand.

Lord Earth never felt the pain of debris or the adventurer that threw himself over him, as the sight of Cireon disappearing into the portal was more painful than anything he had ever felt before.

Clan Quest RAWR Awards
October 2017

Welcome back, noobs! This month we’ve had four nominees: Protoman, Tyco Elf, Wolffi and Questcaping.

"Katatonic" wrote:

Please i want to be a bit greedy and nominate two if thats allowable....

Wolffi for putting up with my sometimes absolute stupid questions and having the patience to answer in a language that i can understand

Tyco Elf, who has given his time to come and talk to me in citadel, explain to me how ability bars work and shared with me how to fix mine and encouraged me to give things a go instead of being too afraid to take part in much. I have for various reasons always been afraid to share things with clan members or to rely on others. Thank you Tyco you are a great guy.

I truly appreciate the help given to me by both these clan members, I have never experienced it before and it makes my heart sing that there are clan members out there that are willing to help and give up their time to support and help..

"Tyco" wrote:

I nominate Protoman for fixing an Airbnb where we can cold the international dinner (time will tell if that was the right choice) that's just beside Battersea where Runefest is held!

"KatMak" wrote:

I want to nominate Questcaping, for staying up all night, the night before RuneFest, to help a li'l, confused birdie navigate London.

Three people were involved in the selection of a winner. And they chose....

Congratulations!

Wait a second... -You may say- What are the RAWR Awards??
Check this link!

PS: Please remember no clannie is better than other just because they won a RAWR edition. You're already a winner if you made it to this thread, because it means you care about others and make our clan a better place every day. Thanks to Kat, Kat and Tyco for nominating and congratulations to Wolffi, Tyco, Questcaping and Protoman. See you next month!

Hoooooods!

So yes I know I said this was gonna be a series of monthly, not yearly, articles. But oh well, here we are, one year later! And my god, where to start.

Much has happened in the world. South America is experiencing the fall of populism and the return of neoliberalism. Alarming political crisis threaten countries like Great Britain and Germany, and Europe as a whole. Russia is meddling with international affairs so they obtain the upper hand, and Trump and Kim-Jong-Un threaten to destroy each other.

But let’s not panic, because we still have a safe haven in case chaos arises: Clan Quest! Sounds silly, but...don’t we do it all the time?

Anyways...what has been going on with the clan in the past year?

Well, first of all, the councils got bigger! Xenon, Shane, Questcaping, Herblaw and me joined the Low Council,

October 2017 045.png

while Sirapyro joined the High Council.

Each one of us have taken serious matters into our capable hands:
-Xenon became the DPS Police.
-Shane is the official propaganda broadcaster of the regime Clan.
-Questcaping is now the best quest guide out there. Word has it that she took so long to get the quest cape because she recorded and edited every single adventure.
-Herblaw is our methamphetamine potions dealer, and makes sure no one goes in an adventure without a sip.
-Sira was handed the silver key! He then became the Master of the Universe. He’s still yellow for some reason.
-As Sira was promoted, Tyco became the Head of Low Council! All hail the elf!
-And me...well, who doesn’t need a bronze statue to decorate the keep’s hall?

Some clannies were lured to other positions as well:
Herblaw, Questcaping, Siiyan and Wolffi joined the ETU. May their events take over the world!

One of the most important things that happened this year is the offsite revamp. I mean, look how cool it is now! Many features are still to be added, but a team of noobs is working on them as we speak! Sira, Shane, Cireon and Draziw are working on a very special wiki for all of us. It would have been released earlier, but it seems Sira threw fish in it, causing a fish riot and rebellion.

October 2017 046.jpg

And oh look “colos” changed! Santa and I used to be white and we are orange now! I still think I’m Emeritus, but I’ll get used to it. (I hope).
Also Kexy joined us! WOOT

I lost the first Warscapoly, with the promise that #NooblandWillRiseAgain.
And who would’ve guessed, #NooblandCameBack! Thank you Wolffi and Cireon for sticking up with me!

October 2017 047.png

The Bronze Brigade made its first appearance, and we got rektd! Still figuring out when to do the next raid. Soon ™.

October 2017 048.png

Pushing modesty off a cliff now, because I need to say that I feel quite proud of luring Mod Raven and Meneer Naab to our special Questaholic issue last July. I must specially thank Santa for his uninterrupted work, and Tyco for helping me interview Raven. And of course, I will be forever grateful to those that made the magazine’s anniversary issue one of the greatest ones out there.

October 2017 049.png

Also omg I might be maxing next year. DXP helped a lot. I still don’t know how long it will take but I’ll get there.

October 2017 050.png

Ah, never mind then ;-;
We miss you Irene!!

Of course, I can’t avoid the RuneFest thing. London saw 15+ Clanquesters together this year! I mean, just wow. Pictures and testimonies are somewhere in this issue, be sure to read them!
I’m sure Cireon will mention it again, but plans for RuneFest 2018 will start soon. So make sure to start planning early, I will!

It appears I'm the son of Kexy and probably Sliske. And I found out I had a son, Tosols. It’s all kinda weird, but they are great people.

Two last things: I lost my Quest Cape. I just don’t wanna grind to lvl 9 Menaphos. I dedicate my online time to ports and noobing with clannies. I’ll do ‘Phite Club some day.

Oh and Sira's videos are the best. SPIFFY!

October 2017 051.png
That’s all. Until next month year!

PS: OMG this means I’ve been in the magazine for a year! I love you guys

Bulletin - October2017

How does one write the clan bulletin after the month of RuneFest where a record number of Clan Quest members met with each other and turned London on its head with their awesomeness? And if that wasn't hard enough, meeting clan members in person is a great way to not only collect feedback about the clan, but also make plans about the clan's future. During the weekend, I have talked about more plans for the clan than in the months before, which has resulted in a long todo list of things to work on over the next few weeks, months, years. This has probably surfaced in a surge of activity around the board, and it doesn't look like this will die down any time soon.

In this month's bulletin, I will try to point out the most important plans and decisions made during the weekend, since it is nearly impossible to touch upon all of what was discussed. We are trying to keep track of what we're doing using a public todo-list on our Wiki. If there is anything that you feel like helping out on, make sure to let me or another councillor know. We try to discuss as many of the things as possible in the public voice chat, and you're always welcome to hop on in and contribute. We value every member's opinion.

October 2017 053.jpg

RuneFest
Let's start with the big one: RuneFest 2017. I won't go into much detail here, because there is plenty to read about how RuneFest went down elsewhere in this magazine, and we are also working on putting pictures and text up on our Wiki page. It's still work in progress, since we're also working hard on many other projects, but hopefully it will give you an idea about how your fellow Clan Questers spent the weekend here in London.

Personally, RuneFest was incredibly valuable for me to get a direct line towards some of our clan members. The people behind the screen name are always slightly different than you expect them to be, and not in a bad way. It is great to actually get to know people through real-life interaction, and I think I speak for all attendees that last weekend has enhanced our membership to this clan.

Meeting in person is also a way to really quickly talk through the running of the clan. With three High Councillors and four (six by the end of RuneFest) Low Councillors present, in addition to a large group of members to bounce off ideas, it becomes very easy to set out a path for the clan in the next months and years. Sure, most of the ideas we already had, but there is something about being in the same room that moves things forward at a much quicker pace.

We - as a clan - made full use of RuneFest to give Clan Quest exposure among the JMods and playerbase alike. Using matching t-shirts and hoodies, we made sure to stand out where we could, and I am certain that we recruited quite a few people into our clan by talking to them.

All in all, RuneFest was a huge success, even though we could have done things better. With many members showing up, RuneFest is turning into one of the biggest clan events of the year, and we can do better at organising that. We're keeping track of a timeline to make sure we make the most out of our in-person clan meeting next year.

Runefest 2017 006.jpg

The wiki
If you are tired from me mentioning the wiki, I don't blame you. It is kind of the biggest project we are working on right now. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I don't have to mention it as the wiki anymore, since it will be an integrated part of our offsite.

The wiki is the largest website project we as a clan have ever undertaken. Up to now, we have always been limited in our website content by whatever is posted on the forums, or what is added to the website by the actual web developers. By adopting a wiki system, we make it possible for every clan member to contribute to the content of the website.

We are currently working on integrating the wiki into our main website, so it looks indistinguishable from existing pages on the website. The wiki is also publicly readable, and so it will also be our way of creating world-readable content. Projects right now include a full Clan Quest history in the form of a timeline, a recommended quest order based on lore, and a user page system. For those unfamiliar with wiki systems: every user has their personal page they can fill in as they desire. Our medium to long term goal is to integrate the content you create there with your in-game avatar(s) and forum profile to create a personalised user page.

If you want to get started with contributing, head on over to the wiki and use the login button in the top right. This will automatically log you in if you are logged into the offsite forums. Consider making a start on your user page or look at the wanted pages. The Content Editors group is available if you have any questions. We'll soon be posting a getting started guide as well.

Constitution
Our clan's rules and structure are defined in our current charter. However, the charter is heavily tied into RuneScape and doesn't give us the flexibility to define membership to Clan Quest in terms unrelated to in-game rank. This is why we are drafting a completely new Constitution that will address these issues. We will share the draft of the Constitution when it is ready for you to give feedback on, before we ratify it.

While yes, the new Constitution will allow us to introduce new games towards the clan, we are also dedicated to keeping Clan Quest the awesome place it is. That is why we don't expect anything to fundamentally change when the new Constitution comes into effect. Hopefully it will give us the power to be more inclusive to members who want to be part of our family, even if they do not have any ties with RuneScape per se. But don't worry, we will never forget our roots :)

Forum changes
In preparation for the new Constitution, we have already made some changes to the forum layout, as the attentive members among us may already have noticed. We have made sure to put everything RuneScape related under the RuneScape category. We merged the update discussion forum into the general discussion forum, and the Marshals and ETU groups now have subforums under the events forum.

We also moved the Gaming forums up, together with the Player Safekeeps, since those don't have to be RuneScape related. We are still working on a good way to indicate what your Player Safekeep is about, so keep an eye out for an announcement on that.

Social media
We have also started to actively reach out on social media. If you have a Twitter, Facebook, or YouTube account, please follow us and we'll make sure to follow you back!
Twitter: https://twitter.com/Clan_Quest
Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/ClanQuest/
YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/ClanQuest

Logo
We are also working on a new logo design. There are several reasons for doing so, including some layout issues and the fact that we may run into problems with Jagex for using the quest icon if we keep growing as we intend to.

Currently we are in the prototype phase, where we are trying to come up with ideas for a Clan Quest logo. If you have ideas for a Clan Quest logo, or if you have graphical skills you are willing to use on our logo, make sure to let us know.

We'll make sure to share the concepts with you early, so we can work towards a logo everybody can stand behind. Keep your eyes out for a feedback thread on this soon.

C.O.R.E. Events
I want to end with a shoutout to a new type of events we are bringing back: the Completely Organised Random Episode Events are a weekly timeslot where we pick a random event from a premade list events to play. The intend is to make the required effort by organisers as small as possible, so that we can all just enjoy some quality time together. Make sure to check it out and show up if you have time, or get in touch with the C.O.R.E. team if you're interested in hosting in a different timezone.

The Oncoming Sandstorm

A Recap of RuneScape's Desert Quest Series

In light of the desert quest series receiving four new instalments alongside the Menaphos update, I will be posting articles across the next few months with recaps of what has happened so far in the story. This is just something to read and get to speed on past events quickly, seeing as these quests were completed by many of us years back...and the series is long!

The next four quests down the line - Missing My Mummy, The Jack of Spades and Crocodile Tears.

"Senliten, upon whom Tumeken shines"
October 2017 055.png

Heading back to Draynor (where all this business within the desert lands started, really) we're reunited with Al Kharid spy, Leela. She informs the adventurer about a mission she believes they are most suitable for, and it involves communicating with the inhabitant of an ancient pyramid situated in the far east. The inhabitant in question is a Pharaoh Queen of ages long past, her body mummified and spirit now residing at the pyramid. Leela warns us that the pyramid may still contain a number of ancient guards to work around, but she has organised for the adventurer to gain initial entry into the pyramid easily enough.

Travelling far into the kharidian desert, the adventurer finally sees the pyramind Leela told them about. They slip past the scavenging bandits and enter to the pyramid's interior. Much of its structure has been very well preserved, though skeletal remains litter each room. The adventurer searches them for belongings that may contain information Leela needs - all the while fighting off the skeletons that continually rise up, re-animated by arcane powers. The adventurer collects the items the skeletons leave behind in their defeat - a scroll of the dead, a canopic jar, a journal about the pyramid and a mummy's hand. The journal details the demise of some workers hired by Ali Morrisane to pillage the tomb, eventually finding themselves trapped in the pyramids when a tunnel caved in. They did however, manage to subdue a golem guard they'd stumbled into shortly before they succumbed to a strange 'curse'. Meanwhile, the scroll turns out to be an overview of the mummification ritual performed on prominent desert dwellers after their death.

October 2017 056.png
Eventually, the adventurer discovers the remains of the golem further into the pyramid. Upon speaking with it, it tells of a curse set upon any intruders who enter the pyramid, binding them to it for eternity. The only people who have immunity are the queen, her family, her direct employees and beings without flesh. With sufficient information and items obtained from their search about the pyramid, the adventurer exits and starts heading back to Draynor for their report with Leela.

After showing the items to Leela, she takes particular interest in the scroll of the dead. She concludes that the Pharaoh Queen had been 'split' into different parts through the burial ritual. If they are to summon her from the afterlife for communication, these parts need to be restored to their initial state before the tomb had been raided by looters. The parts of the queen that need to be reconstructed are the body, body double, spirit, shadow, personality and name, as detailed in the scroll of the dead. Leela runs through the scroll and offers some explanation on each section written down, and with a plan now in place, the adventurer sets off to work.

First the adventurer stops off at Ali Morrisane's trading stall in Al Kharid, believing he may possess some artefacts from the tomb retrieved by his looting party. Luckily enough, he does! Though it may not be a simple case of trading for them. He informs us that he sold documents to Reldo the librarian in Varrock, which contained information specific to the ancient queen's personality. Other documents he obtained from his employees he deemed worthless and scraped clean to reuse as fliers. Fortunately he still possesses a document that contains the full name of the queen and is willing to hand over a copy of the document in return for some sq'irk juice. Doing what we do best, we head to the sorceress's garden to obtain some sq'irk fruits, then prepare a fresh mug of juice for Ali. With the queen's full name in hand, the adventurer travels north towards Varrock to pay Reldo a visit - grabbing a flier from the boy hired by Ali on their way through.

October 2017 057.png
It turns out Reldo is more than willing to help us out, but he requires some more documents written during the queen's time period. He aims to use them as work examples, in order to maintain accuracy with his copies of the personality scripture. Remembering that Ali had re-purposed some of the tomb's documents into fliers, the adventurer offers the one they obtained to Reldo, and Reldo remarks that the original text is still traceable on the poorly-cleaned parchment. Satisfied that his copies adhere to the symbols from the same time period, Reldo is happy to pass on the original personality document to us - the 'scroll of praise'. With all business in the north dealt with, we start our journey back to the pyramid in the kharidian desert.

Reaching the pyramid once again, the adventurer makes their way through its interior to the place they had discovered the golem guard. It commands them to halt, and when the adventurer refuses, it rises and enters into combat with them. After a scuffle the adventurer emerges victorious, and continues further down into the tunnels of the pyramid (at a fast pace so as to avoid the vicious scarab beetles). Along the way, the adventurer finds the other three canopic jars that had been scattered around by tomb looters, along with the mummified body of the queen. Noticing it is missing a hand, the adventurer slips the mummy hand they'd found earlier back onto the whole body.

After a long time spent wandering about the derelict tunnels of the pyramid, the adventurer enters a large, open room with what appears to be a floor puzzle laid out before them. Studying floor tiles carefully before taking each progressive step, the adventurer slowly makes their way across puzzle towards the only other doorway in the large room. Walking into the next room, it appears this is the place where the queen had been laid to rest within the pyramid. First off, we locate the appropriate places for the canopic jars and sets them down, then place the mummified body back into the sarcophagus nearby. Turning attention to the crumbling statues of the six lower desert deities, the adventurer remembers Leela having mentioned that any religious sites within the pyramid need to be in suitable condition for communion. The adventurer approaches each statue and offers a prayer out of respect, watching with awe each time as the statues magically rebuild themselves. Checking back on the scroll, it is clear that the spirit of the queen should now be restored.

October 2017 058.png
Next the adventurer begins working on the body double part of the queen, and sets to restore the physical possessions that had been left with her in the tomb. First the adventurer makes some repairs on the furniture near the sarcophagus. Next, they pull out the spiced wine and pot of wheat they had prepared before journeying back to the pyramid. Per instructions written in the scroll of the dead, the adventurer sets the wine and wheat in the same place they discover the original jug and pot. Finally, the adventurer turns to the weathered ushabti - the image of the queen. Using a willow log to match its original material, they set to work repairing and shaping the ushabti to its former glory. It is now that all the tasks for restoring the queen's body double are complete.

The adventurer tries searching for something that may link to the queen's shadow - another one of her split parts. In the eastern room they find a dark figure, similar in shape to the statue of Tumeken towering at the centre of the room. Realising the dark figure is a shadow of Tumeken and it's primed for combat, the adventurer enters into battle with it. After the shadowy figure of Tumeken falls, the adventurer attempts to lighten the dark room by igniting one of the four sconces with fire magic (noticing they've been fashioned to only accept fire runes). To their dismay, the shadow of Tumeken rises again and initiates combat with the adventurer. By the time the fourth battle between the two has ended and the last sconce has been lit, things fall quiet and it seems that the queen's shadow has been dealt with.

October 2017 059.png
It is at this moment, the incorporeal form of the Pharaoh Queen appears in the room. She declares her name to be Senliten and greets the adventurer. With documents relating to Senliten's full name and personality on hand, the adventurer offers them to her. She is satisfied with the document pertaining to her history and personality, but the document for her name is ineffective in making her whole again. It appears we will need the original document from Ali Morrisane if the queen's name is to be restored. On the second visit to Ali, we take along the Ring of Charos to help with bargaining for the original name document. With this approach turning out a success, the adventurer travels back to the pyramid, and presents the queen with her name document - completing the last part of her restoration.

With the Queen Senliten restored and present in the physical world for communication, the adventurer departs and heads back to Draynor to give a report to Leela. It turns out Senliten has already made contact with Leela through a vision, and our Al Kharid friend is eager to learn from the ancient monarch.

"It sounds like the gates are being opened."

It has been a long while since partaking in the rescue mission for the prince of Al Kharid with Ozan and Leela, but it appears the Emir Ali Mirza has not been idle since taking on the role as leader of Al Kharid. He greets the adventurer and informs them a new development has emerged between Al Kharid and Menaphos relations. After years of seclusion, the Pharaoh in the south has declared that Menaphos is prepared to open its gates for trade between the two cities - a step towards peace. Emir Ali plans to send an envoy to Menaphos for negotions and asks the adventurer - accompanied by Grand Vizier Hassan - to represent the interests of Al Kharid. He mentions that the Pharaoh specifically requested the adventurer to attend, and as such spymaster Osman expresses his scepticism in the matter, believing this entire treaty to be a ruse for intelligence gathering. Nevertheless, the adventurer agrees to the diplomatic meeting. Emir Ali asks that the adventurer maintains a peaceful negotiation meeting and avoids and trouble, while Osman has other plans in mind.

Before departing, the adventurer meets with Osman on the upper floor of the palace and he shares information related to Menaphos with them. The city was founded on the grounds of a refugee camp, following the catastrophic effects on the desert lands from Tumeken's sacrifice. Regarding the Pharaoh, Osman despises him and mentions his bloodline derives from a man who usurped the original ruling family of Menaphos. Osman believes that the Pharaoh desires that Kharid-ib for himself, or may otherwise be working alongside the rogue god Amascut. Before bidding us farewell, Osman requests that we visit the city's grand library and look for any books that trace the line of pharaohs from the city's history.

Meanwhile, far off in the city of Menaphos, the Pharaoh and his right-hand Jabari discuss business between the two cities. It turns out the adventurer's attendance with the envoy was a suggestion Jabari had put forth in order to hasten work for Jabari's 'benefactor'. The Pharaoh has granted free range of the tombs beneath the city to her, in return for the buried treasure of the dead. Their discussion ended, Jabari leaves to greet the envoy at the city's front gates.

Back in Al Kharid, we meet Hassan on the roof and begin our journey to the south end of the kharidian desert by magic carpet transportation. After a scenic journey high above the sandy planes, we arrive at the gates of Menaphos, and make our way into the large, bustling city for the first time. With only a few moments to take in the impressive architecture, we are almost immediately met by Ambassador Jabari. He updates Hassan on the city's state - civil unrest in the worker district and trouble caused by a masked rogue known as the Jack of Spades are the main concerns. With nothing left to note, Jabari and an escort of city guards lead us to our temporary residence with Grand Vizier Ehsan in the merchant district of the city.

October 2017 064.png
Having performed his role as ambassador, Jabari is about to leave us with the merchant Ehsan - mentioning his business with the Pharaoh in regards to the Jack of Spades and his criminal activities. As if summoned, the Jack of Spades himself teleports into the the Grand Vizier's house and steals from her possessions right in front of the envoy party, before quickly disappearing as quickly as he arrived. The adventurer notes a familiarity in the thief's voice, though doesn't have time to think much on it. Grand Vizier Ehsan asks the adventurer to catch the Jack of Spades and retrieve her property - and of course, the adventurer obliges. Running outside the grand Vizier's house, the adventurer asks one of the city guards which direction they saw the Jack of Spades head in. They direct the adventurer to the port district and suggest we find Admiral Wadud for help in the search - it appears the chase is on!

Running south across the city with little time for sightseeing, the adventurer makes there way to the port district in the hopes of finding the Jack of Spades or Admiral Wadud. Upon entering the Golden Scarab Inn, they are successful in finding the latter, quickly making acquaintance with Menaphos's naval commander. He admits that he does not know the identity of the Jack of Spades, but he is willing to impart any information that may help in searching for him. But - right on time - the Jack of Spades himself makes a surprise entrance behind the Admiral, and quickly grabs Wadud's prized trinket before teleporting away again. Wadud, another victim to the Jack's theft, asks for the adventurer's help in reclaiming the one of a kind trinket. He believes their best shot of finding the rogue may be to seek out the help of the Pharaoh's guards. The adventurer approaches the nearest guard outside the inn, and they say that the Jack of Spades was last seen heading to the imperial district.

Continuing on with their fruitless pursuit, the adventurer approaches the leader of the Menaphite guards, Commander Akhomet, and asks her if she has caught sights of the Jack of Spades recently. Just as she denies having seen him in the area, the Jack of Spades once again shows off his light-fingered talents by snatching the commander's ceremonial dagger in broad daylight, and escaping before she can call her guards to arrest him. Commander Akhomet requests the adventurer to retrieve her dagger and apprehend the Jack of Spades, earning her respect in turn. She informs the adventurer that the Jack's hideout has been traced somewhere in the vicinity of the worker district, and that speaking to the leader, Batal, may be worthwhile.

October 2017 066.png
Arriving in the gritty workers' district, the adventurer finds the district leader, Batal, and questions him about any Jack of Spades sightings. Though he hasn't seen the Jack recently, Batal does affirm he is likely to be found in the worker district, and mentions that the rogue often dishes out loot to citizens in the worker district out of 'good will' - though Batal still believes his criminal behaviour does more harm for the workers than good. And right on cue - the Jack of Spades appears before us and steals a small purse of coins from Batal, then teleports out. Eager to have his small fortune returned, Batal tells us the Jack of Spades is likely to be hiding out in the underground tombs and directs us towards one of the four entrances to the subterranean network.

We descend down into the tombs below the city and finally encounter the Jack of Spades, who almost appears to be waiting for us. Confidently, the Jack announces we will not be handing him in to the guard. Preparing for a fight with the rogue, the Jack gives up the game and finally removes his disguise - revealing himself to be our friend Ozan all along. Ozan tells the adventurer he had felt responsible for their run-in with Amascut and losing the Kharid-ib, and had been on the trail for the prized diamond ever since. He'd traced it all the way to Menaphos and had been slowly gathering information on its whereabouts. Ozan also tells us that he suspects Amascut is residing in the city, as there have been citizens that go missing or become enthralled under her control and are found digging in the underground tombs. He moves on to discuss the high-ranking leaders of Menaphos, and the corrupted lifestyles they have fallen into - each of the leaders he had stolen from have lost their moral compass one way or another. Ozan stole from them to first gain the attention of the advemturer so that they may meet in private, and to also create an opportunity for the adventurer to gain trust from the district leaders. Ozan hands the stolen possessions over to us, believing that if we gain favour with the leaders we will have more allies on our side in the typically dangerous city of Menaphos.

October 2017 067.png
We make another round of the city, returning the stolen items to each of the district leaders and they express their gratitude for our assistance. After finishing the task and feeling a little more confident with their standing in the eyes of Menaphite citizens, the adventurer heads back to the tombs to report to Ozan. Happy with a successful mission completed, Ozan suggests we report back to Grand Vizier Hassan, but asks that we keep Ozan's presence in the city a secret while he maintains the Jack of Spades guise.

"BRING ME SIXTEEN CROC ICES!" October 2017 068.png

After some time between our last meeting has passed, we head into the Uzer Mastaba - Queen Senliten's tomb inside a pyramid, and greet with the former Pharaoh. Leela is also present, regularly attending the queen to discuss plans for dealing with Amascut's plight across the desert lands. Senliten first recounts a tale to us from her time during life as a Pharaoh, and a dangerous encounter with one of the crocodiles on the River Elid. A member of her retinue was lost to the crocodile, but the rest of her party managed to escape. Senliten explains how the crocodiles of the desert were once creatures who only took what they needed, without excess, but as of late they have become insatiable and attack people beyond the needs of hunger. Senliten and Leela ask the adventurer to investigate what has happened to cause the uncharacteristic gluttony for the desert's most ferocious predator. Senliten understands the problem may be related to the the goddess, Crondis, and suggests the player gathers information on the deity from the Sphinx and Jex the priest in Sophanem.

October 2017 069.png
From these two, the adventurer learns that Crondis is known to be the god of resourcefulness and cunning. She is worshipped by sailors, engineers and rogues - people who depend on their own ingenuity for survival. Jex in particular has also noticed that the crocodiles on the Elid have grown restless and now attack without any pause. He says that they are believed to be her most cherished supporters, and the fact that crocodiles no longer show the qualities of resourcefulness and modesty, there is something wrong with their patron goddess Crondis. When we report back to Senliten, she assures us that we need to first locate Crondis before we can fix the problems with the river crocodiles.

Senliten offers a relic to us, a dowsing rod she had obtained from a genie which may lead its user to a desert oasis. It would work in the same way to locate Crondis, at whichever oasis she may be resting at. In their first attempt at locating the goddess, the venture seems fruitless when the dowsing rod only takes them to random patches of oasis in the desert. When we return to Senliten, she believes that the rod can be tuned to Crondis specifically, but it will require the help of some higher beings - the three elementals at the mouth of the River Elid. The adventurer travels far north to the same cave they had discovered while helping the town of Nardah, and meets with the river elementals once again. They are willing to charge the dowsing rod for us, claiming that if Crondis may be restored to her normal self the higher goddess, Elidinis, will be pleased that an aspect of her husband is returned to the physical world.

October 2017 070.png
The dowsing rod now points adamantly to the far south, and we follow its line all the way to the port district of Menaphos. The only person in the area before we hit the ocean is Portmaster Kags, and we ask if he is able to take us across the water anywhere. One of his offers - the Crondis pyramid, seems all the obvious, and we board with him to travel to the island it rests on. The adventurer walks into the pyramid, and there at the end of the grand parlour, sitting in an enormous bath, is Crondis herself. We manage to get a few words in with Crondis, though she often has her High Priest, Tamsah, do the talking for her. It seems she's not the least bit concerned about the insatiable hunger affecting the river's crocodiles, and instead of agreeing to put a stop of it, she simply demands for the adventurer to bring her food - a beltfish in particular. Tamsah urges them to carry out the job quickly, afraid that Crondis will be difficult to manage if her every whim is not satisfied.

Returning with the requested beltfish, Crondis quickly gulps down the snack and immediately jumps to her next request - toothpicks. The High Priest suggests we source some local acadia logs that he can craft into toothpicks. We run to the imperial district to gather them, then return to the pyramid and hand them over to Tamsah. While the toothpicks keep Crondis happy for a couple seconds, it's not long before she delivers her next command, to the dismay of the adventurer and Tamsah. Out of all things, the goddess now desires a new shiny pyramid top for her own pyramid. Tamsah suggests the adventurer collects some pyramid tops from Jaleustrophos (commonly known as the agility pyramid). Not too keen on stoking an outburst from Crondis, the adventurer grudgingly heads to the agility pyramid to collect the tops.

After some hard labour collecting the prize, the adventurer returns with the tops to present to Crondis. Unfortunately, the acadia logs weren't good enough as toothpicks and now Crondis wants live plover birds to pick her teeth clean. The adventurer spends some time hunting the birds in Sophanem and returns with eight to hand over to Crondis. Greedy as she is, the goddess simply eats the birds whole instead of using them to clean her teeth - claiming that their bones are the real method for picking teeth clean.

After fulfilling so many of Crondis's desires, the goddess still isn't satisfied and demands we get her something sweet to eat - croc ice. Tamsah tells us we can obtain them from Rokuh in Nardah, the famous seller of choc ice products. The adventurer heads to Nardah, buys as many croc ices as they can carry, and makes the trek back to the Crondis pyramid in Menaphos quickly - incapable of resisting a few croc ices to eat on the way (they're only human!). Arriving back in the parlour room Crondis rests in, the adventurer hands over the croc ices. Though of course, the goddess is just as insatiable as the crocodiles on the Elid, and demands we retrieve another sixteen croc ices. At this point, the adventurer has reached their limit. The adventurer has an outburst, calling Crondis a greedy bully and challenging her on what she plans to do if they refuse to serve her. In the middle of the argument, Crondis - all worked up now - accidentally spits out a congealed black mass which flies to the centre of the hall.

October 2017 071.png
The black mass forms into the shape of a large crocodile - the Ukunduka, and it attacks the adventurer. Battling the creature to the death, the adventurer comes out of the fight victorious, and walks back towards Crondis and Tamsah at the bath. When they speak with Crondis again, it's as if the goddess has woken from a dream and seems a little dazed of her whereabouts and what has just happened. With a much more polite character, Crondis asks if there is anything she can do for the adventurer. When brought to attention about the crocodile attacks again, this time Crondis is (at last) more than willing to intervene and help with the problem. The adventurer departs with a blessing from Crondis and heads back to the pyramid in the eastern desert to deliver a mission report to Senliten and Leela.

October 2017 072.png
At the interior of the pyramid, we walk into the main room as Senliten and Leela have a conversation with Leela's father, spymaster Osman. Osman is not happy in the slightest that Leela is getting caught up in pointless matters with the the desert deities and a long deceased Pharaoh queen. Osman believes that dealing with Menaphos should be their primary focus towards the betterment of everyone, instead of wasting time helping individuals as Leela has been doing. As the adventurer approaches, Osman turns to them and expresses disappointment that they have been involved with Leela's folly, and asks that they meet with him in Al Kharid when they are prepared to make a serious contribution to their cause.

October 2017 073.png
When Osman has left, we speak with Senliten and Leela and inform them that we have met with Crondis and assisted in restoring her to her former self by destroying the manifestation of her corruption. The three know that Crondis would have been tricked by the Devourer into consuming the corruption, which means Amascut's schemes are still at large. The adventurer tells the queen and Leela that they have found Ozan and that he's working below Menaphos to find Amascut. Senliten encourages the adventurer to continue assisting Ozan in this endeavour, and the three conclude that their work is done for the day.
