Bulletin - November 2018

Runefest
It already feels so long ago, but yet it was at the start of last month that 15+ Clan Questers travelled to London to get together for Runefest. Our experiences are described elsewhere in this issue, but I would like to stand still at this experience at well.

Last year we had ambitious plans in making this Runefest the best there ever was. When the location was moved to Farnborough and some uncertainty about our leadership figures attending, we didn't really move forward on all the logistics we had wanted to do. In the end, it all worked out fine, but there is a lesson here that scheduling in advance isn't always possible. We'll do our best next year to support every member aspiring to come join next year on a case by case basis. We've had some great feedback from the attendees that we will be taking forward. If you want to already start planning your visit next year, why not head over to our rebranded Runefest 2019 forum and make a safekeep?

Not just at Runefest, but in the days around it, we did plenty of other activities. Sometimes things didn't end up going smoothly, but we stuck together and had a bunch of fun. To me, this really shows that we are a community above all. I don't think many Runefest attendees can pride themselves with being a member of a family that looks out for each other. I think almost everybody who didn't wear cosplay represented Clan Quest at Runefest with one t-shirt or another with pride, and a JMod commenting "so you're the people I've seen around all day!" was definitely a highlight of my day. Being a long-time leader, influencer, and member of this clan, seeing the clan at its highs is extremely satisfying, and I couldn't have been happier after the Runefest weekend.

Runefest is also a time to get together with clannies and learn how they perceive the clan. This may very well have been the first time that the heads of Clan Council, Guild Council, and Honor Council have been in the same place physically (see picture) in all of Clan Quest history, and I definitely used the opportunity to have some chats with people about the future. You'll hear more about those plans over the next few months.

November 2018 053.jpg

Discord Improvements
We're working on making better use of our Discord platform. You may have come here through a new type of announcement we're trying, and we are also setting up tooling for our own Discord bot to be ran from our server. This will help us with these announcements, and also allows us to really customize the platform to our liking.

With this Discord tooling, we're trying something new. We have always wanted more people to contribute to our programming tasks, and we know we have some people around who can. However, we've never really followed through nor had the opportunity to do so. After some internal discussion, we have decided to make the source for our Discord bot publicly visible through GitHub, a leading standard for versioning and sharing code. Through this system, anybody in the clan with a GitHub account can download the code, make changes, and send them for review to us. We're starting with the Discord bot, but we're hoping to start expanding this to other code projects in the not too distant future as well.

And three more things
Ever since the new Constitution, we've never really described how we see the role of Moderators in our clan. Within the Clan Council we had differring ideas, so we decided to define their role more explicitly. The policies are currently in a final draft state, and will be shared on the wiki when ready.

Secondly, we're still working our way through finalising some branding policies. Hopefully we'll be able to share those with you very soon. These guidelines will explain how you as a Clan Quest member are allowed to use that branding, and how we expect it to be used by official Clan Quest sources. If you have any concerns or things you'd like to be able to do, come talk to me and I'll make sure to cover it in our final guidelines.

Finally, with the Runefest hype over, we are going to start looking into making stuff like Runefest t-shirts available to a wider audience. I know several people have asked for this, and I know I've promised it would happen, but we have to look for a vendor and get all the logistics set up, so it's hard to promise a timeline for this. Not to worry though, before too long, you will be able to look the part in your own Clan Quest swag!

Happy birthday!
Clan Quest turns nine this month on the ninth of November! If only November was still the ninth month as it once was (as evident by its name being derived from the latin word for nine), this would be a very special occasion indeed, now it is only a slightly less but still pretty special occasion. Keep your eye out for some juicy birthday related content, and make sure to set some cake aside to celebrate.

Earth with Stella

CIREON

What do you think is the coolest thing about RuneScape?
The ability to pick it back up after taking a break, and how many people it has brought together.

What is your favourite RuneScape storyline?
Gnome or Monkey.

What games do you like besides RuneScape?
StarCraft II, Overwatch, Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic I and II, Star Trek Online, Fallout: New Vegas.

What are your hobbies besides gaming?
Theatre is my biggest one.

What is the origin of your name?
I like space.

What is your favourite planet in our solar system?
Earth.

November 2018 004.jpg

I don't have one.

Hoodies or jumpers?
On myself?

Will you come visit me already?
Been waiting on you to visit me bb.

OZA

What's your favourite skill?
Construction is the one that I have always felt has so much more potential than it did.

How long have you played Runescape and what kept you playing/coming back to the game?
Hell, 14 years now. The people and the quests more than anything.

Which are your all-time favourite games?
Fallout: New Vegas and Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II

What's your toughest accomplishment in any video game?

November 2018 005.png

Which is one of your favourite movies?

What sort of music and artists do you listen to?
Taylor Swift and Frank Sinatra are my two favorite artists, but I'll listen to almost anything.

What was your favourite subject/class in school, and why?
I really enjoyed my programming courses. It's like putting a puzzle together.

Coca Cola or Pepsi?
Coke.

WTF

What do you think about pollution and global warming?
I don't really get why people focus on global warming and whether or not it's real. People are objectively harming the environment, and that must be rectified. Whether or not it causes global warming is irrelevant.

November 2018 006.jpg

What's your opinion on Earth-chan?
I don't know what that is.

Have you always been a celestial body?
For several billion years.

TYCO

How would you describe yourself, both IRL and ingame?
Brilliant, charming, and ravishingly handsome.

What is your most used item, both IRL and ingame?
IRL? probably my backpack. In game? Explorer's ring.

You get a ticket to visit Runescape IRL. Where do you go first?
Lletya. That's where I always go when I need to grind skills.

You get 30 seconds of full attention from all employees of Jagex. What do you say?
COMMUNITY. COMMUNITY. COMMUNITY. FOCUS ON THE COMMUNITY.

What is your first Runescape memory?
Running around the FTP world trying to figure everything out.

Tell me your darkest secret that would make Shane actually fear you for real.
If I haven't already terrified Shane I don't think there's much I can do to scare him lol

Any chance you will ever be on a RSbandb podcast ever again? You know, after...... *that* episode?
Well, Shane hasn't killed me yet, and I haven't woken up to a horse head in my bed, so I guess there's a chance.

November 2018 008.jpg
I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse...

SHANE

Best decision made with anything to do with RuneScape?
Playing it, really. I've met so many great friends through this game.

Best country in the world?
U S A U S A U S A

November 2018 009.jpg

Best country in the world to visit?
The United States.

Tell the clan about George and Stella.?
George and Stella are my two puppies. I have attached photos of them (and me) for you all to see.

Hmmm, don't have enough time for that lol.

SANTA

If you were a girl, which clan quester would you marry?
Lol nope.

How often do you play RS?
Not as much as I used to, but I'll log on whenever there's a new quest and do that.

DRAZ

When are we going to have our next meetup?
When are you going to come down here?

Why haven't you changed your name to Htrae?
Because that would be derivative, and I carve my own path 15- icon wink.gif

CHOTO

HOODS
Hoods!

When did you start playing?
Sometime in 2004 after a neighborhood friend showed it to me.

What was your very first accomplishment cape?
First and only was farming.

If I were to visit your country, what do you think I should do first?
Come to the south and eat some fried chicken. Best damn food in the world.

What are your favourite cities/locations, both in RS and in real life?
In RS? Varrock and Lletya. In RL? Nashville, TN and Atlanta, GA are really neat places to visit, as well as Washington, D.C.

Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?

November 2018 012.png

I know this one is gonna be hard, but: Which quest you believe to be the best?
Back in the day, before power creep entered the game, I'd have to say While Guthix Sleeps and Desert Treasure.

Do you play an instrument? If not, which instrument/s would you like to learn?
Is mayonnaise an instrument? If I could learn one, probably electric guitar or piano.

Tell us the story behind your name!
I just liked space, so I picked Earth, which was taken, and it suggested Earth27. I moved on to RS, Earth27 was taken, and it suggested Earth27107. I forgot I made that account, so I just added a 2 at the end to make Earth271072. I got tired of having to repeat the numbers, and I have a bit of a god complex, so I changed it to Lord Earth.

How many languages do you speak? Which one would you like to learn?
Just one - English. The only one I'd have much interest in learning is German.

If you had to escape your country immediately, what's the one thing you'd take with you?
Can I take my rights with me

What’s your first memory of the Clan?
That's tough. Probably Tears of Guthix with Sinistral and Anamona

November 2018 013.jpg

Which is the most interesting God? Why?
Zaros. His ideals line up with my own.

Coffee or tea?
Coffee.

Best thing of Clan Quest?
Me, of course. In seriousness, though, the community. I love all y'all.

WHERE'S THE RUNEFEST EPISODE I CAN'T FIND IT
Here.

Can you sign my forehead?
Nope.

Who made you a Lord?
I did.

Better yet: Who made you a planet?
I did 15- icon wink.gif

I've heard rumours about how handsome you are. Are them true?
Oh hell yes they are. Look at the attached pictures of me and my puppies.

Best book ever?
I'm a big fan of The Brothers Karamazov.

November 2018 014.jpg

What is the meaning of life?
Shit I don’t know lol.

I didn't know planets could speak. It was great to get to know the place where we live a little better. Thank you, my Lord, for this great interview.

PS: You might have seen Alex's questions are missing. Well...the thing is that he sent...quite a lot of them. Like literally.

Welcome to the official Clan Quest "Feature of the Month"! Every month there will be two different pages featured on our official Clan Wiki: An article, and a members user page! These pages are chosen by the editors team at the end of each month and will have a place on the front page of the wiki until the beginning of the next. Featured pages will also be given an official "Featured Stamp of Approval" that will forever signify that they were once a featured page! Without further ado, the featured pages for November 2018 are:

FeaturedArticle.png
RS3 HONOR COUNCIL
The Questing Clan of RuneScape's Honor Council, referred to here as the RS3 Honor Council, is the judicial body of the RuneScape 3 Guild and the first Honor Council to ever be formed in Clan Quest.

The Questing Clan of RuneScape Honor Council, or simply just the "RS Honor Council", is the judicial body that governs and mediates disputes within the entirety of the Questing Clan of RuneScape. While the Guild Council serves as the day to day moderators, the Honor Council is responsible for making the final decision on all major breaches of ethics, through reference to the Clan Quest Canon of Ethics.

FeaturedMember.png
HEMSKY
Hemsky is a Clan Councilor, was the first person to ever join Clan Quest after it was founded, and served as the Questing Clan of RuneScape's first ever Head of Honor Council.

Hemsky is a current Clan Councilor. Notable for being the oldest non-founding member of Clan Quest, Hemsky was the first applicant to Clan Quest when public applications were initially accepted November 10th, 2009. As would be expected for someone with so long a tenure of activity, Hemsky has made multiple contributions to Clan Quest. Hemsky served as the first Runescape Guild's Head of Honor Council.

If you would like to submit an article or user page to be considered for "Feature on the Month", please get in contact with the editors team on the offsite or Discord. Only the pages that are the most complete will be considered, so get to writing!

In November 2009...
Clan Quest was officially born, on the 9th of the month! Save the date! It was founded by Draziw, Kappathegray, and Sethron 666. Draziw took the official position of leadership, and the new Guild was hosted in his own private "Friends Chat" during its infancy. The following day, the 10th, Clan Quest officially opened itself to recruitment, and the first person to ever join was Hemsky.

In November 2010...
On the 6th, Clan Quest played several games of "Soul Wars" with the "Knights of the Abyss" Clan, establishing one of Clan Quests earliest alliances. The Clan turned one year old on the 9th, and the party that was thrown in celebration is said to have had more than 160 attendees!

In November 2011...
Clan Quest celebrated its second birthday on the 9th, after having originally forgotten it and only remembering the day of. That same day the Guardians were revitalized and reimplemented with a brand new, still secret, roster. Later, on the 27th of the month, Tohtli was promoted to the High Council after playing a key role in establishing the Clan's new website, which is still used to this day.

In November 2012...
Throughout the early part of the month the Clan was in the process of finalizing its latest election for the Head of Honor Council, which saw some controversy over whether or not one of the candidates was harassing members for votes. Ultimately Dirty Rain won on the 9th of the month by a single vote.

In November 2014...
Clan Quest turned five years old on the 9th! On the 10th, Cireon was elected to succeed MsKonnan10 as the head of the High Council, a role that carried over into his position as the first head of Clan Council.

In November 2015...
A public clan meeting was held on the Clan's sixth birthday, where the "Offsite revamp project" was announced, the Questaholic magazine was relaunched, recruitment was closed, and several members were promoted to the Questing Clan of RuneScape's "Low Council".

In November 2017...
Clan Quest turned eight years old on the ninth, leaving it only ten years away from adulthood! On the 28th of the month the official "Event Calendar" was launched on the front page of Clanquest.org.

It's the first time I do something like this, so any comments or suggestions are more than welcome.
(Yeah I already listened to it and I KNOW my connection is crap, but you don't really need to listen to me ;D)

Thank you Tanis, for the great time we had. Thank you to the Editors team and everyone who keeps reading this magazine.

I would say unhoods, but you still have lots to read, carry on!

Clan Quest attended RuneFest again this year, and oh boy, we have lots to tell!
These are some testimonies and pictures from those who attended. Hope you enjoy them!

"It was fun meeting Clan Quest for real, without being tired beyond belief. But the RuneFest activities left a lot to desire".
-KatMak

November 2018 017.jpg
Kat on the Saxsmobile, heading to RuneFest

"RuneFest marked my first trip over to the UK. London itself as an experience is a major shift from that of Western Canada. What did not change, however, was the feeling of meeting great friends made online and taking friendship to the next level. There are no words to describe what this is like. Almost a month later I still can't describe the experience with words, the closest would be a feeling of pure emotion. RuneFest? That was great. The full day of RuneFest was the cherry on top. I set myself one goal for RuneFest itself: meet Andrew Gower. Accomplished (on Friday). There's no other way of putting it... without Andrew, we wouldn't be here.
-Shane

November 2018 018.jpg
Shane and Tyco with the Gower brothers

"Best Runefest for Clan Quest so far, even if previous year was better in terms of the main event on saturday. HQ was quite nice and met a lot of new members in real life. Started an autograph book which could become a project. Nice weather like every year (why do they always claim to have bad weather?) and lot of funny stories shared between the clannies. Totally worth. Look forward for the RF18 video".
-Tyco

bTRr5H3.gif
Tyco was more than ready for RuneFest

"I thought Runefest 2017 was fun. Turns out, the 2018 edition was even better. It was fantastic to catch up the clan again, for the first time since last year for most of them! The Friday night music was awesome and all the Saturday reveals, events, panels and gossiping was great fun. Roll on 2019".
-Diana

November 2018 020.png
Fenn and Diana

"Going to Runefest has been on my bucket list for years now, and I’m really glad this year was the year I finally got to cross that one off! You know, I don’t really believe myself to be the most socially skilled person in any room, but meeting clannies at the picnic just felt really... familiar, I think is the correct word. Meeting everyone was an incredibly bonding experience.
As for Runefest itself, I wasn’t as hyped for The Night Before as everyone else seemed to be, but it was a fun night filled with music and laughter. The main event on Saturday was better, though – I was sad I didn’t get a chance to earn the world-renowned skillchips, but the venue was amazing, the talks were generally interesting and again, meeting RuneScape-related friends in real life is an experience that can only be described as surreal.
My highlight of the weekend, you ask? Well, I will have to tell you about a series of events that transpired on the Saturday evening, when we were in the LAN room with a few clannies. First, I used my incredible Deathtouched darts luck to receive some Pernix chaps at Nex (which was my fourth unique in twelve kills, drop rate 1/3 confirmed). This was not thé highlight though, oh no... after I got the Nex drop, the computer next to mine became available, and Choto sat down to get online as well... only to discovered that his account had been locked. The events that ensued were so amazingly funny that I really did almost die of laughter, but you had to be there to truly understand the magnificence of the moment.
Now, for some closing words: I want to say that I really had a blast this year, and that I have every intention of being there next year as well! Unshoods."

-Derp

"I’d been to Runefest before (in 2017), but this was my first Runefest as a formal member of Clan Quest, and it was great to meet fellow clan members again and get to know them better! I had a blast at the Night Before and meeting with the sound team, talking with some of the game artists and watching them work on character models, and participating in the cosplay parade were particular highlights of the main event for me. 10/10 would go to Runefest next year (and will brush up on my ‘driving on the other side of the road’ skills beforehand!)".
-Saxspieler

November 2018 022.jpg
Sax as a Cabbagemancer

"When I was younger, I always wanted to go to Runefest. Last year I met Derp at university and found out he is an even bigger lore nerd than I am. So after becoming friends we agreed to go to Runefest together, which thank god we actually did. A couple of months before the actual Runefest I heard epic tales and chants from a certain Tyco Elf, went on a bossing spree with a lot of clannies and read about an orchestra coming to Runefest. A.k.a, I bonded with clannies and got super hyped for the event.
So, Friday way too early in the morning, Derp and I overcame trains, planes, delays, more planes, looking for our taxi for over an hour to only find out she was 2 min. away of us and parking on the other side of the park. But we made it! Meeting many clannies at the picnic was great. We had two speeches which I’ve never heard on the voice chat before and that maybe filled with Sürstromming cake was really good. So thank you for that Tyco. After the picnic with some illegal public drinking, speeches, a few people fighting over a card and a bunch of bonding the time for The Night Before had arrived!

* Loading…Please wait…London traffic’s really bad…Some more loading… *

The Night Before!

As we entered we got free stuff! Didn’t even have to dance for it. On a more serious note: The music was beyond amazing. I think my heart skipped a few beats when they played the Runescape theme. I have to admit that Jagex has some great humor. That play almost killed me. I may have unlocked a few pets, learned a few mom jokes and died from laughter when Brassica Prime (mod Raven’s voice) yelled "GREEEEEEN!". After the music and the play Mod Raven joined us for a while and we had a talk. He’s a really amazing guy. Something weird happened as three people came up and asked my autograph. Still don’t know why. But if they’re happy, I am happy.

On to RuneFest!

Thank god for that Starbucks in my hotel. Also, casual had coffee with Rainy in the elevator. He was friendly and half asleep like me. Anyways, Runefest! After the unbeatable Mod Mark won his drinking game I had to go with Tyco, Diana and Fenn to a meeting that never happened. We didn’t get free stuff as a thank you for our duties and I definitely took no pictures with Mod Meadows and Mod Steve W. In a mere 5 minutes I lost everyone from Clan Quest and figured I should watch the Cosplay contest. That Guthan’s cosplay though.
I joined some public events that included coconut throwing, pebble painting and some maze puzzle that was impossible. Soon it was time for some front row sitting at the Quest and Lore event, as many of you have seen on stream or YouTube. I won’t go into details since you can just watch it online. More events came afterwards: Winter reveals, pictures with mods, quest discussion with Mod Raven for an hour, and one of the highlights of the day: Derp and I got a public weddi… promotion! Definitely promotion.
After dinner Fenn and I went to check out some over the top computers and killed RotS for over an hour. By the way, Derp almost died from laughter when Choto got locked out of his account. Anyways, as the day was almost at an end I finally completed my self-made quest: Get a picture with the one and only Mod Mark! Sadly the clannies couldn’t stay for the afterparty as they still had a long drive home, but at least I got to see mod Wolff and a few others breakdance.

I had a great time at Runefest and I want to thank everyone at Jagex and Clan Quest for this amazing experience. I finally understand what Nandos Cheeky is and oh my god Herblaw and Seb are good at pool. I’m happy to have obtained a few pictures with some mods. I still want to take a picture with three of them, but that will be my quest for next year!
Thank you, Clan Quest!"

"My first hoods was to the not so hooded rust bucket himself, our hoodian leader choto, the unfortunate Argentinian who traveled behind enemy lines to greet us.
In his infinite wisdom, he didn't aquire data in advance so it was mere luck that I found him. We had some kebab :stuffed_flatbread: (choto 's first) and some beer.
Second and third hoods were for noob Tyco and Kat, who I found lurking around clan Hq on our way to the museum. Once we got there, Questcaping and Choto had clearly turned their Pm off and we had to go spotting clannies in the very big natural history museum. (There was this urge to take the key from the keeper of the exhibits). Fenn was spotted first, then Choto (Tyco was very squeezey). After touring the museum, most questers accepted my cookies, :cookie: and unknown to them, they joined the dark side. muhahhahahha
Rest of the noobs where spotted during the picnic. It was nice to see that Cireon actually existed (he isn't on much <\3 ), and it was a pleasure to meet Shane, who trekked it all the way from Canada.
Shiro, Derp and Slayer joined later but I wish we had more time to chill  . I'll definitely come next RuneFest.
Oh! Also, Tora the explorer sent us postcards, which had Kat and Tyco fighting over a rare hobbit one.
Right so, before leaving, Tyco entrusted choto with a can of surströmning and a little secret (not mine to share). He also gave him a fair warning :warning: about not opening it in an enclosed area.
Naturally, Choto and I thought: How bad can it be?

Mistaken we were.
I stabbed the can with a knife :dagger: and was shocked :astonished: at what happened. Where I'd stabbed the can there was a vent of pressured air that came onto my hand. And a second or two later, I realized that the air had a...erm...unqualified amount of smell attached to it.
It was deadly".

"This year was my second RuneFest. I really enjoyed meeting old friends and seeing some new faces. This is fairly atypical for me, since I'm not normally one for meeting new people (introversion ftw!), but somehow everything is different when it comes to meeting clan mates at RuneFest. I think you're all familiar with "love on first sight", and I think the term that applies to meeting clannies at RuneFest is "friendship at first sight". It helps having a core of people who know each other already, but even so, the new joiners fit right in. Shameless plug: if you wanna read more about meeting Runescape friends in real life, read on here.
I didn't like the activities at RuneFest much, the reveals talk felt a bit disappointing, and I had hoped to talk to more JMods. All that could not dampen my mood though, because I got to hang out with some of the coolest kids in town."

-Cireon

November 2018 025.gif
Cireon posing for a group picture at the picnic. Pop, Seb, Tyco and Choto can also be seen if you can take your eyes away from Cireon.

"This RuneFest, my first one, on account of PayPal not working last year, came and went. Two and a half days of walking around, either in London or Farnborough, going to sleep late and getting up early. When I walked into the park where we had the picnic, on Friday, I thought I would have been nervous, meeting all these random strangers that I only talk to online. It was going to be awkward and people would not be like I thought they were. But it wasn’t, and they weren’t. I won’t pretend it was like coming home, but the atmosphere at the picnic was the same as in the CC. It was amazing to be able to talk to people about RuneScape for hours on end, to share in this hobby that might have grown a bit too large. It was also amazing to learn about the lives that people live outside of RuneScape. The conversation with Choto, over a cup of Mate, is something I’ll never forget (if only for the strong taste of it)".
-Slayer

November 2018 026.jpg
Slayer tasting the infamous mate

"Runefest 2018 was one amazing experience, no doubt about it! I'm a Londoner, so already familiar with the city the clan cohort spent most of the time here -- but to suddenly be accompanied in it by over a dozen friends I usually only see online made it so much better. From questing for my fellow clannies all around the Natural History Museum on the Thursday, to witnessing the epic battle between Swedish elf and Danish birb at the picnic on Friday; from cheeky clan Nando's to pool and milkshakes on the Sunday... I gotta say, London's a ton more fun with Clan Quest in it.

And of course I can't ignore Runefest itself! Hanging out as Lady Hefin (with 5 out of 6 of my hair crystals blown away by the horrifying wind and my wig constantly slipping halfway down my head, but who cares) with clannies to the sound of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and a fantastic Fremennik backdrop was brilliant. Even if I didn't get as many people to Hefin pose as I expected, I at least got to show off my Agility level on stage! (Which is definitely less than the actual Lady Hefin's. But hey, I didn't fall over, that's gotta count for something.)

Finally, one unforgettable moment during Runefest itself was when it was announced that I had been elected to Head of Hoodian Council. Witnesses can attest to me putting up my Hef hood and shouting "SHOOD!" I was initiated into the (former) Low Council last Runefest, and became Head of Hoodian Council this Runefest... I don't know what next Runefest might involve, but I'm going to be disappointed if it doesn't involve a leadership position in at least one small country. I await it! (Unshood!)".
-Fenn

Questcaping, properly questcaped

My favourite thing about this year's Runefest was definitely the night before. The live music and show they put on was just absolutely incredible, and it was even better to experience that with the rest of the clan. As for the day of Runefest, I enjoyed all the panels I attended, special insights into the near future of the game, and behind the scenes looks at what goes on at Jagex HQ. But above all I loved meeting up with everyone else, and having a great weekend with my friends".

"I didn't go to Runefest, but I went to the picnic on Friday, and the Sunday meetup. Both were alright. I met some noobs, played some pool, drank some milkshake etc, and I'm now in possession of a can of surstomming, which I have yet to open. Highlight of the weekend was when Tyco suggested having Nandos for both lunch and dinner, and Cireon saying to him "Don't be so cheeky".

Was great to see a lot of CQ members at RuneFest and outside the event as well. Love going each year for the past 4 years.
I found the venue a lot larger but I feel it lacked somthing, there was a lot of empty unused space.
Also the lack of skill chips this year made me sad".

A bronzed trip to London

Some might be wondering why I didn't write for the RuneFest article. Well, there are some reasons to that. First of all, what I had written for the occasion was way too sad. Furthermore, it was way too long. And finally, it's a good excuse for another noob's ramblings. And you there thinking you could avoid me. Oh, the innocence!

I wrote something on Sunday (the night after RuneFest). Those words were supposed to be in this magazine issue. But I then realized they might not be appropiate for the general mood. Sadness, or rather some kind of existential crisis had engulfed me and I even dropped a tear or two. So I am now in my balcony, much more relaxed, with a cup of tea next to me [Fun fact: I didn't drink tea in the UK at all].

So where to start?

If I were to tell the tale of my whole journey, I'd have to separate it in several episodes and we all know by now that I probably won't commit to it. So I'll just go straight to the three amazing days (and some extra moments) I spent with Clan Quest. I read Cireon's Informer article, and while I can't presume to express myself the way he did, I'll try.

RuneFest, event-wise, was a big MEH for me. Yes, while I had the chance of chatting a bit with Raven and Meadows, those awesome JMods I interviewed in the past, I admired the Gower brothers, I got to hype with the lore reveals, I shared a smoke with Mark, and secured a very interesting interview for a future issue (coming in January, get hyped!), I wouldn't attend the event again. The Night Before, however, was amazing, but RuneFest was...yeah...meh. What made my 10 days in London a more than awesome experience was, indeed, spending time with fellow clannies.

Mod Raven presenting the Needle Skips

It was my first time travelling alone for such a long distance. First time in a huge city of an unknown country. First time RuneFest. And first time meeting people I only knew from the Internet. I honestly didn't know what to expect. I had doubts, I even was kinda afraid of the whole situation. I'm not the best guy when it comes to socializing and ice-breaking. And guess what, there were no reasons whatsoever for me to feel that way. Because now I can now say with pride that this was one of the best experiences of my whole life.

Trying not to die

He would later buy my first kebab ever. I loved it, but I'm kinda sad Kebabthief wasn't there. We walked, we talked, he yelled at me for my dps, we had a beer, and much more. It was great, and I hope he enjoyed me as much as I enjoyed him.

*Insert 3 days of getting lost in London*

And so the day arrived. I woke up early (not as early as KatMak, though), and went to the Tower of London. I walked around for some time. Saw the monument to the great London fire, and found the Falklands War Memorial, which was pretty weird for an argentinian. I was constantly checking my watch, because at 11:30 I had to take the tube to Clapham Common, where the Clan was meeting for a picnic. I walked around the park for a bit, until I spotted a familiar figure, who wasn't wearing a t-shirt, because reasons. Yep, that's definitely Tyco. We talked for some time until we spotted a wild Seb, one of the insane people (the other one being me), who actually payed for shit- I mean, surströmming. After a while, in the distance, we saw a master farmer (with a cap, not a hat), and a distinctively handsome man presuming of his abdominals. It was surreal hearing Shane laughing practically next to me. And even if they still hurt, Cireon’s puns filled me with joy*.

November 2018 038.jpg
Shane, Seb, Tyco and me

Questcaping joined us a bit later with some homemade bread, and we properly questcaped her! The Saxmobile arrived at some point, carrying Derp, Shiro and (duh) Saxspieler. Luckily, Shiro didn’t burn everything down. Sax joined the art corner and painted a cool quest logo, and somehow Derp couldn’t stop hooding everyone non-stop (Next HoHooC confirmed?). And yeah, can’t forget about KatMak, (who had messed up, again, with the keys and the public transport [noobbirb]), Popcorn, who popped in at like 2pm, and Sluyur, who managed to arrive just in time to eat something before heading to Farnborough. After the picnic, we'd separate in two groups and head to the night before . All aboard the Punmobile!

It always goes like this. Adults on front

November 2018 040.jpg
And kids at the back.
In Cireon's words: "We have the Head of the Clan Council, the Head of the Honour Council, the Head of the Editors, the Head of the Guild Council and...Shane"

We got there safe and sound. And something kinda weird happened. Tyco, Shane, Cireon and I were queueing to enter the venue. I needed a smoke so I moved aside a short distance. I light the cigarette and...out of the blue, these 2 ladies run (not run per se) towards me. They were around 65 years old, and they had been looking for smokers for like an hour. They began with the must question:
-Old School or RS3?
I, still a bit dazzled about the whole situation, said I played both. They inmediately started telling me about their achievements, 99 prayer here, 99 herblore there, my son plays Old School here, my daughter RS3 there...you get the point. Now, while I know elders play the game and all (Hi Msk!), I hadn't really thought about that. I looked around, and I saw something that blew my mind. The attendants' ages spanned from around 15 to around 70 years old. That for you reader might be something common, not a mind-blowing situation. But for me, a guy who comes from a country where gaming nearly touches the unintelligible, it was a huge thing. Made me realize that we're underdeveloped even to that extent. Striking a conversation with those women was probably the most shocking yet most wonderful experience of the day. Also I'll throw you some juicy information: They quite literally fell in love with Tyco. Yep. You didn't hear that from me. Moving on now, the next great thing was meeting with the rest of clannies, those who weren't at Clapham Common for the picnic, namely Herblaw, Diana, Proto, Symun and Cyan. We had an amazing evening. The orchestra was great and the show was pretty cool.

November 2018 041.jpg
Awesome people

The two things I want to point out from the RuneFest day are the following: First of all, the ride was superb. Sax and Fenn would sing some RuneScape tracks, like Ballad of the Bassilisk. Man, that was awesome. Travelling to Farnborough with live music is not something you experience every day. And finally, I witnessed 3 promotions! Derp and Shiro were invited to the Guild Council, and I got to present Shoodcaping as the new Head of the (s)Hoodian Council!

November 2018 042.jpg
Lady Shoodfin

And it's Sunday's turn now. How can I even pretend to express my feelings regarding this day. I woke up and made some tea for Slayer and Fenn, who had stayed at the HQ with us. Kat was already up, of course, and we couldn't separate Tyco from his bed. We took the tube to Trafalgar Square, walked around for a while and then headed to Buckingham palace, where we would meet Cyan, Shane, Cireon and Seb, see the changing of the guards, and then head to the already traditional Nando's meal. And it was with our stomachs full when the first blow finally hit: Shane was leaving. And I realized the inevitable. Those wonderful people I had met were starting to go back to their homes. Jesus Christ that was hard. And you know what? I also realized that, even if we had shared almost 3 full days, Shane and I (yes, using you as an example), hadn't had the proper amount of time to talk, to get into one another's life, to get to know each other in a more personal way. But the feeling was not like, "Yeah welp another clannie I met". I really feel that I created a bond with each and everyone of them. We barely got to know each other, but the group was remarkably united, and hugging Shane (Yes, I hugged him) wasn't just a mere formality. With that hug I said "thank you for the time we shared, until the next time", because I want there to be a second time.

November 2018 043.jpg
The famous Nando's picture

After Nando's, and with Shane gone, we met with Proto, Symun, Herblaw and Pop for some pool. Derp, Fenn and I formed the Noob team while Seb, Tyco and Shiro made up the Noob+Seb team. They (And with "they" I mean Seb) utterly destroyed us. We signed a letter for Tora, who had sent us several postcards for us. After that, I joined Symun in a quest to overcome Cireon and Proto, and I found out pool isn't just about hitting the first ball you see (Yes, it has rules, how weird is that?). Guess what, we failed. But it was great fun. When our hour came to an end, we went to some place I can't remember the name of, Franky's and someone else's, I think, and had something to drink. Suddenly, I realized Derp and Shiro were leaving, and Slayer, Symun and Proto followed shortly after. Those of us who remained headed to the station, where we said goodbye to Cyan, Questcaping and Seb. Kat had left for a Harry Potter tour, so only Cireon, Tyco and I were left, and we went to the HQ to discuss clan stuff. Which was great! Talking about how to improve so many things, and brainstorming while seeing Cireon trying to drink mate was pure gold. Better yet, pure bronze. But even Cireon had to leave. And he said something nice to me when we hugged (Yes, WE HUGGED): "Thank you for coming all the way here so I didn't have to go there". Well, thank you for having been there when I flew over.

November 2018 044.jpg
Two heads. Guess who's gonna punch the other one

I looked around. I saw the classic red buses, the buildings, the people, a beautiful city, and now far away, a friend walking away from me. Might sound creepy, but whenever I could, I watched many of you getting lost in the distance, knowing that I would hold dear every moment we spent together.

That was TNA (The Night After) when I wrote my whole London experience. And yes, it got sentimental. That's why I'm writing something new, much more nice, right? RIGHT?!.

November 2018 045.jpg
Kat, Tyco and Pop getting salty at my bank

Anyway, it's time to talk about my last day. After almost 2 weeks in London, the journey was coming to an end. And I noticed I still had so much to do, so much to see and experience. For the life of me I can't remember what I did that morning, but at 12:30 I met with Pop and Tyco for a last meal. Tyco left at 13, not before giving me the surströmming, and giving me explicit instructions about how and where to open the can. After the meal, Pop and I went to the British Museum, because I wouldn't have forgiven myself for visiting London and not going to the infamous museum. I had to sacrifice a visit to King's Cross and, sadly, Bronze Street, but it was worth it. We spent like 1 hour there and went to have a cold drink. And, just for the record, it was Pop who brought the idea to the table (literally):
-You know, I can make some time and go open the surströmming if you want.
It's not like I considered it. I said "YES" and we hurried back to the HQ.

November 2018 046.jpg
I can still smell it

It was stupid. From start to end it was stupid. Why would anyone in their right minds buy this shit? Not to meantion eating it.
Short answer: It's because they are not in their right minds. And that includes me. And Pop. For you see, as we couldn't find a can-opener, Pop just stabbed the can.
The stories were true.
The smell is real.
The taste is real.
Oh.
The horror.
But at least I held my promise and there was someone to witness it.

After I dumped the thing on the streets (Inside a bag, don't worry), I said farewell to Pop, who somehow was in a hurry to run away (tsk tsk). He made me promise that I would kill Araxxi in full bronze. And I shall. In 10 years or so. Now all I had left was to pack everything. On my way to the airport, I took the opportunity to let the clan know I was still alive after the surströmming incident (yep, those in London had already smelled something funny, or rather, worrying), and I wondered why the world is so big.

November 2018 047.jpg
A random picture I took, featuring the Shard (Not available for summoning)

I arrived in Buenos Aires at around 7am on Tuesday, and I was struck with the realities of my country. I had spent 10 days in something close to a fairy-tale. I couldn't, and can't, help but to keep making comparisons. "This doesn't happen in London" is my new motto. I found everything broken, dirty, malfunctioning and depressing. The journey as a whole left me with the will to do things. To keep fighting for what I think is right, to strive for a better country, to make an effort with university, because I know that if I don't work for it, I'll never get a chance of repeating such an experience.

November 2018 048.jpg
More randomness

So yeah. This is it. One last thing, though. For those who have never met up with clannies: Do it. The "What if the meeting doesn't go well" is not a valid excuse. If you have doubts about what to expect, what to do, how to organize your trip or how to cope with the unknown, drop me a message. I don't have a single complain of my journey, and I want to help anyone who has interest in doing such a thing. Meeting clannies was, I repeat, one of the best experiences of my life. My only regret, is not having met more people. But that gives me an excuse to go back. Thnks you for everything. For the laughs, for the company, for the hugs and the momets we lived. And thank you so, so much for having said "Hoods" so many times. It's been quite a ride.

And, as usual,

I was supposed to make this RAWR nomination last month, but oh well, never too late. Especially for something like this. I nominate Wolffi, because:
November 2018 052.png
This is beyond going the extra mile (or whatever the distance is from Lumbridge to Taverley^^)

Even if there is only one nominee, the judges consider whether the nomination is valid and the candidate is someone worth selecting. And in this case:

Congratulations!
