Bulletin - May 2018

I don't know about you, but April just passed by for me. All in all, it felt like a quiet month, but plenty of stuff has happened whether you saw it or not. Sit back, throw your feet up on your desk, and enjoy the monthly bulletin!

Discord guest changes
In a continuation of our clan reorganisation, we further changed the guest access on our Discord. As it didn't make sense that guests have access to the extension of the offsite (the channels in General and Voice), but not the extension of the clan chat (the channels in RuneScape), we decided to narrow down the access to just the #rules channel, and a newly created #lobby channel only visible for guests, server mods, and guild councils. The lobby is there so we can arrange the correct access with our guests.

We have given the guild councils a system to add people to their respective guilds. A guild council can also decide to allow guests to their guild channels on Discord. Full details on how that all works can be found in this wiki article (NB: add link once article is written). You don't need to know the details, but they are there for the sake of transparency.

For full details on the announcements, and any feedback or questions, you can check out the announcement.

Other guilds
Talking about guilds and their councils, I want to remind you that it is possible to set up new guilds. There are still threads out to gather interest for an Overwatch Guild and a Guild Wars 2 Guild. Please respond if you're interested. If you think there's a different game or topic that we should make a guild around, make a thread and get going!

Further changes
Now that we have worked on the more visible and organisational changes of Clan Quest, we have started working on some of the follow-up projects. With things like Runefest coming up, we want to make sure we get our branding right.

We are also working to continue to expand our website features. We now have all magazines on the wiki, thanks to the monumental effort of Sirapyro. We are continuing to improve mobile improvements as well.

Runefest 2018
And yes, Runefest. The dates have been announced! October 5th for the Night Before, and October 6th for the actual day of Runefest. Mark your calendars, because Clan Quest will be there. We have set ourselves the ambitious goal of having 50 Clan Questers attend. Crazy? Maybe. But I am sure we can do it!

Now that info is starting to come out, we will start the planning for Runefest 2018 in earnest. As last year, we'll try and arrange accommodation for Clan Questers to stay at competitive prices. We will have group activities planned for the days surrounding Runefest. My birthday won't fall in the Runefest weekend this year, but if you ask nicely, I can still arrange cupcakes.

All the planning and announcements will happen in the Runefest forum. If you want to come, make a safekeep! Even if you think you might not make it work: the first step is still to make a safekeep. Maybe clannies can help you out where required. Together, we'll rock this party so hard, that next year it'll be called Clan Questfest!

CIREON

Hoods, Sira!
Did you see Clan Quest in a new perspective when being promoted to Clan Council?

Seeing Clan Council interactions certainly gave me a new perspective. I also never worked with any of you nearly as much as I have now before I was promoted, so that absolutely influenced the way I see things now.

What is the most fun thing about being a Clan Councillor?
Well, it used to be having the power to end the Pawfia at a moments notice. But now that we have formed an alliance, I would say it's being able to have the ability to not only access the Clan's history on a greater scale, but do something with it.

What is the hardest thing about being one?
Honestly, it's sometimes knowing how best to use the position I'm in. In recent months I've gone all in on leading the Wiki and general historical efforts, but sometimes it can be difficult to feel like I'm living up to the title, and to what people may or may not expect of someone in the Clan Council.

What is one moment in clan history you wish you'd been there for?
Well, the easy answer would be "when it was founded". I was certainly around at that time. That being said, I was actively participating in another friends chat at that time, a chat I still use to this day. I can say with absolute certainty that if I were put into a position back then to choose between my friends chat and Clan Quest, my entire life would look immensely different. So I will say that I would have liked to have been there on April 12th, 2011, when the Clan Camp was released, and the Clan Quest chat as we know it was formed.

What was the strangest/funniest thing you uncovered when making the timeline?
Draz and Seth's wedding certainly caused me to raise my eyebrows. And seeing young/naive/noobier versions of Earth and Kitty was entertaining! >=)

If Jagex asked Clan Quest as Questing/Lore content Council, what changes would you suggest?
This tricked me up at first because I had to remember: Changes, not additions. Some of my biggest disappointments over the years have been Salt in the Wound(popular opinion), and Dungeoneering(unpopular opinion). Salt in the Wound is already being considered for a rework, so I'd say that. But as far as Dungeoneering goes, I was particularly excited when they started teasing it, without announcing that it was going to be a skill. We had the strange power, and then Daemonheim appeared off the coast of the wilderness. It had me and a bunch of friends all riled up and excited, and then Dungeoneering was released and to me it was a massive let down to the buildup they had. And it's never particularly interested me since. Putting gameplay mechanics aside, I probably would suggest changes to the up-front lore of Dungeoneering. Maybe a quest to introduce it, and not just throw you into a minigame that, at the time, didn't really have much associated with it lore-wise. At least not enough to drag someone in who disliked the gameplay mechanics.

May 2018 003.png

Which clan member would you ask as champion to fight bosses for you in-game?
Probably Xenon or Karen. They seem like they know what they're doing.

SULI

Nite nite?
I don’t sleep.

OZAZOYO

What music do you listen to?
I generally listen to a somewhat wide variety of music that all falls under the singulr banner of "Rock". Generally speaking, I like Hard/Alternative/Progressive/Classic Rock, but my actual specific interests vary song to song. Some things I listen to could be considered metal, but I generally don't enjoy music that involves any kind of screaming or particularly heavy instrumental. That makes up the bulk of my interests, but I have a soft spot for other kinds of music such as film/game score. I also generally like piano/violin music, but only if it's upbeat and energetic. That's the kind of music I listen to, and unfortunately I'm the kind've person who doesn't generally like anything outside that. But again, I vary song to song(very rarely do I like an entire bands work, just individual pieces.)

Do you have a favourite movie?
As a filmmaker, everyone's expected to be able to give an answer to this question. For me, the answer is the film "Chinatown", which I do genuinely love. Still, it's kind of just a convenient answer I give to start conversation to both satisfy the question and start a conversation. There are plenty of films I've enjoyed more, but Chinatown is my go to "BEST film" answer.

May 2018 004.jpg

Coca Cola or Pepsi?
I dislike both Coca Cola and Pepsi as drinks themselves, the only actual soda I drink nowadays is Sprite, and occasionally Root Beer. With that in mind, considering Sprite is a product of the Coca Cola company, my answer is Coca Cola.

What games do you play besides runescape? (both actively and on&off)
I've been "off" for a while now, but MineCraft has always been a big one for me. Skyrim is also a big on and off. Pretty standard, boring answers, huh? There's also Mass Effect, all four games, which I adore and replay every now and then. Then I have my "I'm SUPER bored and have literally nothing else to do" games I play on and off, such as Viscera Cleanup, Stellaris, and Civ 5.

If you could snap your fingers and make any change to Runescape, what would it be?
Any change, singular? That one is rough. Generally speaking, my answer would involve something that benefits the games Machinima capability. I have a long wishlist in that regard, including smoother facial features, a revamped(and generally better) bestiary, an "emote book" with emotes that are ordinarily only accessible through combat/other means, a full green screen area(more than just POH grass), and so on. But if I had to choose just ONE thing? I would change Construction to have some large, quantifiable ingame benefit, more than it currently has, in the hopes that it would cause the community to pay it more attention and, in turn, force Jagex to give it more care and update it more frequently. This is a triple threat for me, because it could theoretically help my Machinima ideas, it would revitalize a skill with a lot of squandered potential, and it could even bring back casual, laid back house parties, which I spent SO much time at back in the day. How I would make this change, the point of the question... I don't know, sadly. But something along those lines is where my heads at.

A LONE FALL

Favorite and least favorite quests in Runescape (and why)?
Least favorite quest is either Salt in the Wound, because it was just so poorly done and such an obvious attempt to force Dungeoneering down our throats at a time when it was still new and developinng despite having absolutely nothing to do with that quest series, or Elemental Workshop Part 3, because I've never particularly been a fan of that series and part 3 came out shortly after I originally acquired my Quest Cape, and it took it away from me. There could not have been a more frustrated quest to have taken away my brand new Quest Cape. As for my favorite quest, I'm still one of those people that likes to say While Guthix Sleeps. It was just so great for its time and was a massive groundbreaker for lore, and my interest in it especially. I'm sure it feels dated at this point, but to this day I still have fond memories of it. Ritual of the Mahjaraat probably comes close as a second choice.

Questions about Quest related choices: The Void Stares Back.
Who did you choose to sacrifice?
Why did you choose them?
If you had to go back and redo it would you choose the same person all over again?

May 2018 006.png

I chose to sacrifice Jessika. It's honestly been a long time since I've done this quest that I don't entirely remember all of the specifics, unfortunately. If I could redo it, I don't know that I would make the same choice. I'm in desperate need of a refresher, in part because I have always disliked Pest Control - a lot - and so I kind've carried that grudge into that quest series and never gave it a fair chance when it came to judging its quality or even remembering it.

LUKE

Choto made Wolffi make me ask this, but did you just fart?
>_>

SAXSPIELER

If you could pick up any musical instrument, what instrument would that be?
It would probably be guitar. I've tried in the past, I just couldn't get my fingers to move right. Not particularly hung up on it now, but that'd be the one I'd go for it.

EARTH
Innocent, traitor, or detective?
Totally innocent.

TYCO

What is the earliest Runescape memory you have?
My friend and neighbor introduced me to the game when I was a wee lad, and we started playing it together for about a day. Unfortunately once I was let loose to play on my own, I made the mistake of walking away for a few minutes to look at something else. When I returned I found that I had been logged out of the game. At the time I had been fighting cows, and my young mind immediately assumed that my being logged out meant that I had died. Frustrated, I quit on the spot and didn't touch the game again for about two years. And then I did. And now here we are.

How would you describe yourself?
Not well. I don't talk about me good. 15- icon wink.gif But the basic boring stuff is I'm a Los Angeles film maker who plays video games a little bit too much as has the occasional anger problem. 1- icon biggrin.png

You get a ticket to visit Gielinor IRL. Where do you go first?
That depends, where do I spawn? Lumbridge, probably. Because I'll probably be seeing a lot of it knowing my luck, better get familiar with the area.

You get 30 seconds of full attention from all Jmods of Jagex. What do you say?
Machinima. House Parties. Minigames. Community. Screw the endless combat updates, focus on "no xp waste", and all the polls that will only ever favor them, and get your priorities straight! (Note: I have very strong opinions on this subject)

May 2018 007.png

Any chance to see you at Runefest 2018? Pretty please with a cherry on top?
Unfortunately no. I'm deathly afraid of planes. And traveling. And unfamiliar locations. And generally getting lost. I get anxiety just thinking about missing a turn when I'm driving. Visiting a strange foreign country's a little too much for me to handle right now. ;)

What members of Clan Quest have you met so far in real life?
I have never met a single internet friend or clanmate in real life. The only people I have interacted with both online and in person I knew in real life first.

For someone who hasn't heard of Spiffy, what is he?
*sigh* I blame Choto for this. Let me start from the beginning:
When I was more actively creating RuneScape Machinima, I struggled to come up with ideas for what to actual make. The few random ideas I did come up with were often strange, and seeing as how I didn't have any one elses support(not even to voice act), I had to do it all on my own. So one day, shortly after the Musicians were added to RuneScape, I decided to make a video where Zamorak was afraid that they were evil. "Paranoid", I called it. It was just meant to be a one off comedy in a series of skits I wanted to make. Shortly after that I made another skit in that series, where Zamorak was forced to take part in a dating game show. "Spiffy McSpoffinberg the Second" was the character I created to serve as the host of said game show, and because I was the only person doing any of my voice acting, I added a filter to my voice to make his annoyingly high pitched. I then gave him a silly outfit to go along with his silly voice. Again, he was just meant to be a one off joke in a series of skits.
But then, a year later, I had absolutely no ideas for videos whatsoever. And after browsing through my past videos, I decided the best thing I could do was make a sequel to the "Paranoid" video, building off the idea that the Musicians actually WERE evil. That's how my eight-part "Paranoid" series was born, but when I was planning to make the original sequel I decided I needed a supporting cast to help Zamorak, my protagonist. So I added three new characters to that story: one completely new and original, and the other two from older videos. One of those two was Spiffy, and despite his silliness he became a main character of the series. Arguably the second most important character of the series behind Zamorak. Skip forward a couple years, Santa and Choto discover my videos, and now Spiffy's a meme. I'm sure Choto will include a picture with the interview, but in the name of shamelessly plugging, here's a link to the videos. 15- icon wink.gif https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CXgMY4sL7U&list=PLC809E965B812A3C6

As we all know, Clan Quest is a dating clan. How's your dating with Cireon going?
I'm sorry to inform everyone so suddenly, but Cireon and I have mutually decided that it isn't going to work out and have separated amicably. Am I doing it right?

Tell us your darkest secret that would make the pawcoughia reevaluate their cult.
I'm actually a Martian sent here to burn all of humanity to the ground, but decided to turn good when I saw the good on this world. Oh also I brought all cats with me when I first arrived and they still want to complete the orginal goal. Can't tell if that will make the Paw.fia reevaluate their goals, or reinvigorate them, though.

WTF

Trash no.

North.

Is Cory in the House, in your opinion, the best anime ever created?
I don't know what Cory in the House is or why this is a meme I have both heard of or remember hearing of, but I am not a fan of anime(or memes, really) in the slightest, so I am not fit to answer that question. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind wanting to start again?

May 2018 010.png

How do you like your eggs in the morning(or any other part of the day, I won't judge)?
Well since my stomach absolutely hates me in the morning and I can barely stomach much more than bread, I don't actually eat eggs all that often. But I have in the past leaned towards eggs with the yolk intact. Scrambled is good too, though.

SHANE

What's it like living in a mega city, specifically one in southern california?
It's very hot and smoggy. Also there's a lot of traffic to deal with. In honesty, I don't actually live in a mega city. I live in the COUNTY of Los Angeles, not the CITY of Los Angeles, which is actually a fairly important distinction. I live in a smaller city immediately north of Los Angeles, separated by a mountain range. There's still a lot of people in this city, but SIGNIFICANTLY less than Los Angeles. It's also significantly cleaner and more open than LA. So I honestly can't give an accurate testimony on what it's like to live in a mega city... because I don't "live" in one. I just visit it!

May 2018 011.jpg

Assuming I don't know this, what's your favourite sport to participate in?
None. As a kid I played softball, but I've lost all interest in sports as I've grown.

Did you play any sports in school?
In school, no. Up until I started High School I played in a soft ball little league, but I haven't touched any sports since.

How tall are you?
6 feet 2 inches.
[Editor’s note:187,96 cm for those who measure the right way.]

What is the ideal shower temperature?
Warm. Enough to both heat me up and wake me up in the morning. I don't have a number.

If you could do one thing at all at Clan Quest, what would it be?
REVOLUCION!!!

May 2018 012.jpg

What would it take to get you producing RS videos once more?
There are a lot of obstacles to this, actually. First and foremost, the single biggest obstacle that has ever prevented me from creating RS videos is writing. Ideas. They do not come to me easily, and when they do I struggle to write them out. I can't make any videos if I don't know what to make! I do have a long series planned out, but I'm in the phase of writing scripts for it and that has me held up. I have no idea how long that will take.
But then, outside of writing, my ideas are often ambitious. Especially with the few ideas I DO have, they involve more action than is usually possible with the base game of RS. So to get me producing RS videos again, I need one of two things to happen(or both, preferably). Either Jagex needs to make a few more updates to further assist with videomaking, or I need to master the art of 3D modeling. Both are asking a lot, but there are updates Jagex could create that would work just as well for what I want to do, such as a much better(wider/taller) greenscreen area, more emotes(combat emotes specifically) that can be accessed on said greenscreen, upgrades to the Orb of Occulus to reintroduce position saving, and to remove the shadow it casts on characters faces if it gets too close, and it would also be nice if character faces were smoothed over and blinking was added to all models(it's on some). There's a lot more, but no one has all day. 15- icon wink.gif
The last thing that I need to produce videos again is voice actors. In the past I have done almost all of my own voice acting, no excuses. Towards the end I introduced a few new voices, provided by close friends of mine, but this has led to obvious problems like most characters sounding familiar and the noticeable lack of any speaking female characters. I may not have the best equipment or acting capability, but I would want anyone I bring on board to voice act to have clear microphones and the capability to act, at least a little bit. I also don't have a lot of money so hiring people gets tricky.
Put those things aside though and maybe I can start producing RS videos again. Who knows!

Do you like hamburgers?
I do. Cheeseburgers, more specifically. Usually with two patties, though if they're thin enough I'll sometimes go with three.

WOLFFI

During your many years in Clan Quest what have you most improved in yourself through the community?
I started participating in Clan Quest and its community because the one I had been a part of collapsed. And it was my fault. I was angry, depressed, and lonely. Eventually that group repaired itself, and though it took a long time, through the Clan Quest community I was able to recover and grow from the experience. I'm (a bit) less angry, but being a part of this community's generally helped my outlook on life and overall motivation.

With the benefit of hindsight, is there anything you would've done differently regarding your education and/or work?
Getting into an internship while I was still in College. That absolutely would have been the one thing I would have done differently. It probably would have made life easier for me now.

If you were removed from your position in the Clan Council and you had the chance to drag one other councillor down with you, who would it be and why?
*cough* *mumbles* *cough*

What is the most major change you want to implement on Clan Quest as a Clan Councillor?
I want to change the way people think. That sounds silly and impossible(because it is), but it's also the truth. If I could change anything I would change the way people think about events, interacting with each other, etc. I would like to see people do more stuff together, and far, far, FAR less grinding away on their own. But that's a pipe dream. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Would you visit RuneFest dressed in your female avatar's fancy dress?

May 2018 010.png

If you could live in another state and maintain your quality of life, which state would you move into? Why that one?
To maintain my quality of life? Any state, theoretically. But I don't know that I would move because of two reasons: No other state has my industry, and I hate the cold. I am in the perfect geographical location to stay warm. Being warm is self explanatory enough, but it's a simple fact that even though a lot of different places have film industries, almost all post production/editing is done in Los Angeles. Texas and Georgia have a lot of stuff going on, but they send most of their stuff back to California to be edited. So this is where I stay!

Since your country keeps burning down constantly, are you secretly a firebender setting the forests ablaze?
Secretly? You must not know me very well.

May 2018 013.jpg

ISKH

What are your current Runescape Goals?
I don't really have any specific ingame goals at the moment, unfortunately. I've been pretty bad about that since I maxed. The biggest thing I'd LIKE to eventually do in RuneScape, at the moment, involves several different video ideas running through my head.

Do you have time in between keeping the clan running?
RuneScape's never really gotten in the way of managing the Clan, as Clan Council OR as Low Council.

Do cats and dogs get on with each other?
Depends on their individual personalities, really. My cats get along just fine with most of our dogs(some of the dogs are indifferent to them, others scared of them.) Cats aren't big fans of our very large newer dog, though. They don't really get along well.

CHOTO

HOODS
Hi.

When did you start playing?
I first tried to start playing the game in 2005 when my neighbor introduced me to it. That lasted about a day, I thought I died, and didn't pick it up again until March 2007. At that point I started my current account, and the rest is history.

What was your very first accomplishment cape?
That would be firemaking!

If I were to visit your country, what do you think I should do first?
Depends where you are in the country, really. America is massive, and I can't really give you a "Go do this". If you're just arriving, first thing you should probably do is check into a hotel though. I don't get out much.

What are your favourite cities/locations, both in RS and in real life?
I don't get out much. In real life? It's home. My city, my house. I'm a very boring person with no real desire to travel. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
In RuneScape, I'm not entirely sure. Probably Prifddinas because I spend most of my time there, especially now.

Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?
I really don't. I'm not much of a "motto" person. If you notice, I've never even had a signature on the offsite. Though if I had to choose something I guess I'd go with "Damn dude".

Tell us the story behind your name!
My name, Sirapyro, is quite obviously a combination of two different "words": "Sira" and "Pyro". Back when I started the game for the second time, the friend I was playing with was using the name "Sir Chris260", and so in order to follow along with the theme he set, I became "Siradam157". A name that even kid-me quickly came to hate. It was silly and dumb, but over time I began to notice that everyone I met online just shortened my name to "Sira". Like, that was a name that random people consistently used to refer to me. And then I joined my first RS community in 2009 and they all used that name as well. Shortly after that I achieved my very first skill cape, in Firemaking. So when Jagex added the ability to change display names in October 2009, I was first in line. I don't even mean that metaphorically, I pushed through all the lag and day-one server issues to make sure I got to change my name as soon as possible. And when I finally got the screen to come up, I had to think of a new name. "Well, everyone calls me Sira, so I'll just call myself that!" Didn't work out too well. No one was using the name Sira, but I couldn't take it. To this day no one has the name Sira, and I still can't take it. But I had just recently achieved the Firemaking cape, and I generally like fire and was known for liking fire, so I slapped "Pyro" onto the end of "Sira", and thus "Sirapyro" was born!

How many languages do you speak? Which one would you like to learn?
I only speak English. At least, if you can call the words I speak "english". Or "speaking". I have German ancestry though, and I've heard that for an English speaker German is one of the easier languages to learn, so I've always thought about learning German in the back of my mind. Never taken any steps to look into how to start, though. (I realize that, yes, given my geographical location Spanish is the single most practical language to learn, but I don't do logic)

If you had to escape your country immediately, what's the one thing you'd take with you?
Probably my phone so I could get in contact with the people I care about. Online or offline

How do you feel when certain peoples praise you for the greatness of Spiffy?
A little weird actually. I never thought of Spiffy as much more than a joke, even if I do have big plans for that character. ._.

Tell us about the main characters in "The devil's a loser". How did you make them up? What inspired you?

Assuming this is just trying to dig into my creative process, here you go:
  • Zamorak: Around the time I started making videos I discovered a Finnish metal band known as "Lordi", who have a song titled "The Devil is a Loser". I liked that song. And Zamorak is the devil. Or, at least, at that time he was still being portrayed as the devil of the game. This was before they made Zamorak's character a bit less evil, and made Saradomin a massive asshole. So the younger version of me decided to make "The Devil is a Loser"... or, more specifically, a series where Zamorak is a washed up loser. The character developed from there after I decided to shift away from "The Devil is a Loser" and instead focus on the "Paranoid" series.
  • Glowie: Just came to my head, really. I had been learning how to work with the effects in my video editor, which included green screening. Once I understood greenscreening, and how to do it in RuneScape, I had the idea to have a fully CG character using another effect in my aresenal: light rays. Making him an alien was an easy decision given his appearance, but originally the character was also supposed to have no tongue. ...I opted for an echo-y voice instead, because that was gross.
  • Spiffy: I know you don't want to hear it, but Spiffy was the product of me being silly. I made his voice high pitched because I did all my own voice acting and needed him to sound different than the other characters. I made his outfit silly to go along with his silly voice. And I made him kind've whiny because I'm kind've wh-- his voice is already high pithced so it fit. >.><.< He has a lot of room for development in the ideas I have.
  • Grumble: I made this character up on the spot because I liked the look of the graphically updated Castle Wars armor. I also needed a third character to work with Spiffy and Glowie, so I just added someone in full armor with a big hammer, make him look tough. Of course, Grumble can't speak, and that was a decision I also made because of my lack of voice actors. Instead of having another character that sounds like me, I made him a mute. At the time I thought I was being funny, but I've since fully embraced the idea and he's probably one of my own personal favorite characters I've ever created. A lot of ideas for his story as well, if I ever create more videos. I should also note that Grumble was partially designed by my friend Pac, who created the non-armored version of the character.

I want an autograph. If I knock your house's door, will you open me?
Assuming I never told you where I live? I might just call the cops. o_o

Coffee or tea?
Neither. I drink neither. That being said, there are brands of sweet tea that are basically all sugar in a bottle that I will occasionally drink, so if you put a gun to my head I guess I'll say tea.

I don't need to explain why to you, non-believer.

Is time travel possible?
As much as I'd like to believe it is, I don't think that's really feasible in reality. Yes.

Best thing of Clan Quest?
I've always said this in the past, but it's always been the community. It's the main reason I'm still around on RS!

Best book ever?
This will earn me some weird looks but I really don't read books. I'm a filmmaker, dammit! So I can't really answer this one.

Thank you, oh great Master of the Universe, for this was a great interview. Have a great labour’s day and an awesome May, everyone!

Cireon

Did you see Clan Quest in a new perspective when being promoted to Clan Council?
No, not really. It’s exactly as I anticipated because of past experiences governing RSBANDB. It’s like slipping on a glove that fits perfectly.

What is the most fun thing about being a Clan Councillor?
I can do anything. This might seem like a stretch but the one thing that this position affords is the ability to do great things but you must be constantly governing yourself within the scope of what is appropriate for the clan. This doesn’t mean that you can change the motto, change recruitment, or add draconian rules. It means that if there’s something I think can run better or someone brings something like this forward I can take steps to plan its execution.

This is also a good point to mention that I love seeing great examples of leadership. If there’s something you’d like to do for Clan Quest, make a proposal and let’s hear about it. I’m just one more ear that can further enable one of Clan Quest’s greatest features, the ability for normal members to affect change.

NB: I’m sure the honour council would remind me if I am wrong.
~ Wolffi: We would, but you're safe for now!

What is the hardest thing about being one?
Remembering to not reveal…

What is one moment in clan history you wish you'd been there for?
The founding and your promotion to Low Council and High Council.

What is your deal with farming?
It’s the easiest skill in the game. Back when it was released very few people understood this and saw it as an obstacle to training. Also, the cape is green!

Are you excited about the animal handling update to farming?
Reserving judgement on this until we see concepts. Though with that being said, surface world farms were something that Andrew wanted to initially do with carpentry in RuneScape classic, though that waited until after the release of RuneScape 2. It would be great to have this finally realized and put into game. I think it has the potential to change Farming and put a new light on it to those who might’ve disliked the initial training methods. Everything Jagex is doing this year seems to be going off well so far, but we must be cautiously optimistic.

Which clan member would you trust most in charge of your farm?
MsK.

Ozazoyo/DoctorGallo

What music do you listen to?
I don’t really listen to copious amounts of music. I have a CD based (yes CD) copy of a Star Trek concert that travelled the world in 2016 to commemorate the franchise’s 50th anniversary and was live performed by the Czech National Symphony Orchestra and conducted by Justin Freer. That was the last CD I bought and probably the only one this decade to give you an idea how much I listen. That’s not to say though that music is bad or there’s no occasion for it. I mainly focus around sound tracks or orchestral pieces if I am going to listen (The Star Trek Discovery sound tracks were just recently released). For me to truly enjoy a song it must have meaning. Examples:
Alberta Bound - Youtube
Return of the Thought Police - Youtube

Do you have a favourite movie?
I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you're looking for an absolute favourite movie, I can tell you I don't have one... but what I do have are a very particular set of movie favourites. Movies I have acquired over a very long time. Movies that make me a good conversationalist for people like you. If you let me tell you my favourite movie, that will be the end of it - I will not look for you, I will not pursue you... but if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you... and I will tell you that I also like space, patriotism, war and spy movies.

But I will slip this one in…

Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country

This one offers great commentary of world events (in 1991: downfall of the USSR) and brings together William Shatner and Christopher Plummer who worked together on Shakespeare in their younger days.

Coca Cola or Pepsi?
Coke.

What games do you play besides runescape? (both actively and on&off)
Star Trek Online, Overwatch, World of Tanks, StarCraft II, Fortnite currently and on occasion anything in my Steam library.

If you could snap your fingers and make any change to Runescape, what would it be?
Jagex’s persuasion strategy. The wins so far in 2018 offer an unprecedented opportunity to continue and do great things with the game. I’ve outlined a 5 act plan that Jagex could take to truly change the game and their community. You can read it here.

[size=140]Tyco Elf}}

As someone who is as old as time itself, what is your earliest Runescape memory?
Doing Ernest the Chicken in RuneScape classic. Also, making the trip between Lumbridge, South Varrock Mine, and Varrock Anvil to smith bronze.

How would you describe yourself?
A steady person who is direct, thoughtful, likes to win and doesn’t take no for an answer.

How would you describe your relationship with Lord Earth and Kitty? The RSbandb clipshow and other sources tell some interesting tales....
Podcast wise Earth always keeps me in check. Probably the most out of any of the co-hosts. Been trying to get Kitty on the show but he won’t unless there’s an anime segment…

Otherwise, great, 100% perfect.

You get a ticket to visit Gielinor IRL. Where do you go first?
Lletya and Isafdar forest

You get 30 seconds of full attention from all employees of Jagex. What do you say?
See answer to DoctorGallo/Ozazoyo.

Any chance to see you at Runefest 2018?
Maybe...

What members of Clan Quest have you met so far in real life?
Alex 43

Do you consider yourself wise?
That’s a question for history, not today.

Tell us your darkest secret that would make all farming patches in the world decay instantly.
Warbands.

WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot

Trash can or trash cannot?
Can, never cannot.

How much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
A woodchuck would chuck as much wood as a woodchuck could chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood

North, East, South or West?
West is best.

Is Cory in the House, in your opinion, the best anime ever created?
I absolutely dislike anime. Now that that’s out of the way, I am not familiar with this meme or reference.

What is your favourite genre of music?
See previous answer.

Do you ever feel like a plastic bag drifting through the wind wanting to start again?
Each week when I get going on an episode of RSBANDBUpdate! It is a great source of energy to me and I truly enjoy it.

How do you like your eggs in the morning (or any other part of the day, I won't judge)?
Scrambled. ABSOLUTELY NOT POACHED OR HARD BOILED!!!

Iskh

Any tips on getting pictures looking so good?
Turn the game up to ultra level. I also applied filters by right clicking on the world map icon and changing the skybox.

A Lone Fall

If you had to do a Runescape quest in real life, which one would you want it to be and why?
Elemental Workshop. Any of them.

What piece of Runescape Content were you most excited for the release of or enjoyed the most upon release?
1. Plague’s End
2. Prifddinas Batch 1
3. Enlightened Journey quest

Pacrat

Questions about Quest related choices: The Void Stares Back.
- Who did you choose to sacrifice? - Why did you choose them? - If you had to go back and redo it would you choose the same person all over again?

I chose to sacrifice Jessika -- did this quest on release day in all likelihood back in 2010, I can't remember, sorry -- and yes, I would keep it the same

Saxspieler

If you could pick up any musical instrument, what instrument would that be?
Piano. There are so many things that just sound so great on piano. National anthems, RuneScape music, Star Trek music, etc.

Sirapyro

Do you have any favorite quotes?
“Things are only impossible until they’re not!” — Jean Luc Picard

“The more things change, the more they stay the same” - Jean Baptiste Alphonse Carr

“Focus, focus, focus - never accept defeat - push hard for total victory!” - President Donald J. Trump

PTV Suli/PTV Argon

How much do you love farming?
Enough that at some point I plan to get 99 again so that I can keepsake an untrimmed cape, yes, Farming was my first 99.

Are you looking into taking on any apprentices?
Ask and you shall receive…

Hoods?
Hi.

Rumor has it that Wolffi is secretly plotting a coup against Clan Quest; what do you know about this?
If he is, good luck. It would be very hard to pull this off.
~ Wolffi: I am not, but that's exactly what I'd say if I were.

Wolffi

If you were removed from your position in the Clan Council and you had the chance to drag one other councillor down with you, who would it be and why?
Draziw. He is perhaps the only person I know who can talk about anything at length in addition to myself. It would be fun to spend a good deal of time with him.

During your many years in Clan Quest what have you most improved in yourself through the community?
Nothing! I’m 100% perfect! No, not really. Mobile web design. Cireon started us off on the forums by making them better for mobile. I carried on that work for the wiki which works pretty well now on mobile devices. (Yes, we’re going to get the forums working better at some point!)

What is the most major change you want to implement on Clan Quest as a Clan Councillor?
This happened as I became Clan Councillor and that is the constitution. While most of the Constitution was written by Draziw, I offered my opinion in key parts and at the end we ended up with a document that I am very happy with.

With the benefit of hindsight, is there anything you would've done differently regarding your education and/or work?
Aviation and the aerospace industry is really interesting to me now. That would have been fun to explore.

If you could live in another country and maintain your quality of life, which country would you move into? Why that one?
New Zealand. It’s very laid back and not too much of a scorcher if you stick to the south island. Failing that, the United States in a nice small state such as Montana, Idaho, or Wyoming.

Alex 43

Are you still able to do 300 one-armed pushups in one go, or have you gotten out of practice since our days at university?
The populace should always be well armed.

What's the maximum thickness of board you've ever broken with your abs. I'll even accept either mahogany or marble.
The thiccest board ever broken is by far the RSBANDB forum boards when our server crashed that one time.

Do you still make your own house keys with rebar and your fingers alone, or do you just lift the whole thing over your head?
My house keys are made in house.

What's your latest force-farm project, where you pull the fully grown trees directly out of the seeds themselves?
As an expert at Farming from the farm province of Alberta, it's surprising to learn that people can't force farm.

You haven't asked me to get back anything you've thrown into space lately. What's your secret?
Space junk is not meant to be recycled, just tossed away like a stale meme.

The entire southern city is beginning to sink into the river again. Would you mind?
As long as "the southern city" encompasses Linda Duncan's riding and the Alberta NDP HQ, no I do not mind.

Did you and the grim reaper ever make up? You really hurt him, both physically and mentally.
Death and I have worked out a deal. That's why I look so young!

How high can you jump now? Did you get past Jupiter?
I can't jump high, as marijuana is not legal in Canada yet!

Choto

Hoods!
Hoofs!

When did you start playing?
Early 2004. I was around in RS Classic (I got my 15 year cape the day they came out) and participated in the RS2 beta. Got membership in late June 2004. See my wiki page if you want a more detailed history. Click me

What was your very first accomplishment cape?
Farming. I still long for some way to get this cape back.

If I were to visit your country, what do you think I should do first?
Visit the rocky mountains. Do some sort of loop involving Edmonton -> Jasper -> Banff -> Calgary or Edmonton -> Jasper -> BC interior -> lower mainland (Vancouver) -> Vancouver island -> BC interior -> Banff -> Calgary.

Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?
See quote question above.

Which quest you believe to be the best?
Best standalone? Enlightened Journey
Best series? Toss up between Plague/Elf and Elemental Workshop

Do you play an instrument? If not, which instrument/s would you like to learn?
See previous question.

Tell us the story behind your name!
My best friend Mike initially had the Mike12088 name. I copied it. He no longer plays RS, I do.

How many languages do you speak? Which one would you like to learn?
1.5 - the 0.5 refers to French. I was on the cusp of being able to speak it fluently but it is truly broken now for me.

If you had to escape your country immediately, what's the one thing you'd take with you?
Survival pack.

When did you start producing podcasts? Who came with the idea and who were the first podcasters of your show?
June 2005. The idea was first brought about by my first co-host, Pika69 who suggested a RuneScape radio show. That became a podcast because podcasts were a new thing at the time.

What was your best moment in RSB&B?
The best moments often happen behind the scenes or are removed because of profanity reasons if you’re referring to the podcast. The most recent one would have to be the coverage Cireon and I gave to Samsung’s exploding phones in 2016.

Watch related YouTube video here! (2 minutes)
What’s more, this wasn’t the end of the story. It became a running meme on the podcast!

Website wise? It would have to be the numerous times I’ve met up with various people from RSBANDB both in Canada and abroad.

I'm a person with no understanding whatsoever of countries, nations, boundaries and so on. I ask you "What is Canada"? How do you reply?
Canada is the best country in the world. Every province is so different yet we all are linked through this thing called Confederation and it makes the country. From coast to coast to coast it has every geography you can imagine from the coastal waters of British Columbia to the rockies in Alberta and BC through the prairies in Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. The landscape of Ottawa and Quebec are dotted with lakes and cottages making for perfect postcards. It’s got everything. If you’re Ukrainian you can be Ukrainian, if you’re Dutch you can be Dutch, if you’re Chinese you can be Chinese, so on and so forth. Canada is a country that defined by its people and geography and it is these two things that make Canada what it is!

NB: I believe that everyone should have the right to believe that their country is the best country in the world.

When will you max? What about 200m xp farming?
Max probably sometime in 2018, though not by my own choice! 200m Farming? Never.

Best thing of Clan Quest?
The community.

Thank you Shane for agreeing to be interviewed for the Questaholic,
and thank you to all the people who asked questions, and are reading the magazine!

Welcome to the official Clan Quest "Feature of the Month"! Every month there will be two different pages featured on our official Clan Wiki: An article, and a members user page! These pages are chosen by the editors team at the end of each month and will have a place on the front page of the wiki until the beginning of the next. Featured pages will also be given an official "Featured Stamp of Approval" that will forever signify that they were once a featured page!

Without further ado, the featured pages for May 2018 are:

FeaturedArticle.png CLAN QUEST TIMELINE
The Clan Quest Timeline is a bulleted list of almost all major events that define Clan Quests history, starting all the way back in early 2009 when the original seeds of the Clan were sewn. It then goes in detail throughout the years, covering promotions, ingame events, milestones, and other important or interesting pieces of information relevant to Clan history.

This page contains a detailed timeline of events of Clan Quests history, covering all aspects from general clan formation and management, the Councils, events, etc.

FeaturedMember.png CIREON
Cireon is the Head of the Clan Council, and thus serves as a coordinator and communicator for that group as a whole. He had a huge role in redesigning our website to give it its current glorious look, and in implementing the shiny new Wiki! On top of that, he's served in almost every single position in the Clan. Here is a brief excerpt from his user page:

Cireon is the current Head of Clan Council of Clan Quest. He has been member of Clan Quest since 2011, and has held numerous positions in the clan. The first official contribution to the clan after joining in 2011 was in March 2012, when Cireon started hosting the Tears of Guthix event[1]. He would go on to run this until its end in 2014. In May 2012, he was added to the Honor Council as fourth

If you would like to submit an article or user page to be considered for "Feature on the Month", please get in contact with the editors team on the offsite or Discord. Only the pages that are the most complete will be considered, so get to writing!

And for hiring enslaving Wolffi. +1 to Choto

Choto for making me take an oath to Hoodian Faith, the editor team, bronze and all things noob. And also for keeping us on our toes by making sure we post questions 1- icon biggrin.png

Thank you peeps, its really nice to see your support to my never ending spam.

I also wanna nominate someone. I'm gonna do this on behalf of Draz, and I'll act as a seconder.
Sirapyro has worked tirelessly these past months on the wiki. He has, by far (and I mean REALLY far) contributed more than anyone. But most importantly (at least for me), every single magazine issue is now in the wiki, fully fixed and reformatted, and all thanks to him.

The people involved with RAWR awards have made their choice, and they have chosen:

Congratulations!

-----|-----

Wait a second... -You may say- What are the RAWR Awards??
Check this link!

PS: Please remember no clannie is better than other just because they won a RAWR edition. You're already a winner if you made it to this thread, because it means you care about others and make our clan a better place every day. Congratulations to Choto and Sirapyro. See you next month!

May 2018 002.png

In May 2010... On the 15th the first ever Quest Fest was proposed by Anamona. Later, on the 26th, she also created the Clan's "[1]Rune logo]", which would be used in official branding for years afterwards. She was ineligible for a position on the Low Council, but was given the title "Mistress of Ceremonies", and guaranteed a promotion when she was eligible.

Also on the 26th, Rerecros began the much publicized, at least in Clan Quest, "Quest List" project, which saw him trying to achieve the Quest Cape in as little time as possible.

On the 28th the second attempt at creating a Clan wiki was started, this time on the official RuneScape Clans Wiki.

In May 2011... On the 10th a load of new rank options were added to Clans, and so Clan Quests fundamental terminology changes. The "Low Council", which had long been referred to as "Captains", were now known as "Generals". "Generals", who are now known as the "Clan Council", then became "Administrators".

On the 14th many long time contributors to the Clan were promoted to the Low Council, including Vodka B and MsKonnan10.

In May 2012... A Clan meeting was held on the 6th where it was announced that Lord Earth was inactive, and his position as Head of Low Council would be given to MsKonnan10. Afterwards, the Citadel was overrun by zombies in a game of tag hosted by Ytse. Later, it is announced that Cireon was being added to the Honor Council as a fourth member.

On the 17th, the Jagex hosted series "RuneCast" premiered, starring Clan Quest's own Vodka B. At the end of the month, on the 29th, the seventh official Clan Quest recruitment thread is posted.

In May 2014... On the 10th, after having been announced some time earlier, four Low Councilors are promoted to the High Council: Cireon, Earth, LizBeth, and Hemsky. Cireon promptly resigns as Head of Low Council, and Miss Alaska is elected to replace him on the 12th. These promotions came early due to the Clan's controversial decision to lock the ingame Clan Chat to guests on the 7th. After a week of debating, the Clan Chat was reopened on the 15th.

With his newfound position on the High Council, Earth brokers an alliance between Clan Quest and the RSBandB fansite, which is officially announced on the 13th. On the 17th Seb is added to the Honor Council to replace one of its members who resigned earlier in the month.

On the 21st, the Combat Marshals were officially formed by Karen Angel. Also during this month the official, long running "Tears of Guthix" event ends.

In May 2015... On the 7th an official Clan Quest Steam Group was created.

In May 2016... The Clan Quest official Discord was created by Xenon Ray on the 22nd.

In May 2017... Sirapyro was promoted to the High Council on the 4th, prompting him to resign as the Head of Low Council. Tyco Elf was chosen to replace him on the 9th.

Compared to the last months, the clan’s been fairly quiet. But if you can believe it, this is actually a pretty common occurrence. The clan sees a lull in April and May before the summer breaks begin, and when they do, our activity sees a huge boom. Part of that boom is because most years we do a bit of recruiting. Join me for a moment while I reminisce about the past marketing madness Clan Quest has seen.

So…. Back in 2010 we were working on advertising the clan. We had a new clan website, we’d been doing some recruitment in game and on the runescape forums, but as a community we hadn’t really branched outside of the usual recruitment venues. That’s when I asked the community to start designing logos.

Clan Old Logo 001.png

What we came up with was used to market us on fansites around the internet, and our community was officially branded. We also aggressively marketed Quest Fest, for the first time in 2010, making a name for ourselves by breaking the synced emote record.

As the years would go by, we would see major marketing and recruitment initiatives in the month of May. In 2011 you would see us change the in-game ranks for the clan, updating them from what had previously existed to be more inline with the clan camp update. We also did some serious recruitment, and became the largest number of dedicated members in our whole history.

In 2012, Vodka B was featured on Runecast, and the resulting interest we got from people viewing our clan’s member on an official Jagex Video (the host of it no less), resulted in a humungous boom in recruitment, and a targeted recruitment effort.

May of 2014 saw two major things happen, First, we closed recruitment for a period of time and got the community really riled up! And then we allied with RSBandB, who has remained a strong ally, and whose members now make up some of Clan Quest’s most noted contributors.

We created our steam group in 2015. Our discord was founded in May of 2016. May is a really important month!

I decided to talk about marketing, because there are some works going on “behind the scenes” that are soon going public. We’ve been working on some marketing projects, and it will be fun to look back on this month in a few years, and see where we have gone.
