Xenon:

-Do you like cheese?
Absolutely.

-On a scale of 1 to Bernie, how much do you love firemaking?
The pet is awesome, but I really don't like firemaking in general. The skill just falls flat. 3?
January 2017 003.png

Tyco:

-What is your earliest memory of Runescape (plz don't say dark wizards)?
The Dark Wizard's have never bothered me. My mortal enemy was the King Scorpion from the Dwarven mine.
January 2017 004.png
One of my first memories was running all around trying to grab a sycthe during the Halloween drop. I specifically remember word spreading that scythes just dropepd in Fally garden. Running from Draynor along side dozens of other players trying to snag one.
By the time I got there, they were all gone. It was a sad, sad day.

-You get a ticket to visit Gelinor IRL. Where do you go first?
Probably Catherby. Lots of fond memories of those shores.

-How would you describe yourself in-game? Lazy bankstander, active skiller or perhaps an enthusiastic adventurer?
Lazy skiller. I tend to play while working, so AFK skills are my bread and butter.

Were:

-Who was the last person you hi-fived?
My wife, though I don't remember why.

-Yes, no or burrito?
Yes?

-First word that comes to your head when I say "crafting"?
January 2017 005.png
Necklace. Huh. Is there even a "Crafting Necklace" item?

-Which food makes the best compromise between good looks and bad taste?
Fried Zuchnini Sticks. They look like Mozzarella Sticks, but they aren't!
Bad memories.

[Editor’s note: I can testify to that]
January 2017 006.jpg

Alaska:

-Where do you live in the world?
Outside of Boston, Massachusetts
January 2017 007.jpg

-What do you currently do beyond RuneScape?
I also play Overwatch, Team Fortress 2, and World of Warcraft.
Hobbies include electronics (newbie), gardening (I grow some killer tomatoes), and amateur astronomy.
I'm a Software Engineer by day.

-Favourite quest?
Runescape undeniably has the best quests of any game I've played. It's hard to choose a favorite, but Making History was when I realized that Runescape quests were special for me.
January 2017 008.png

-Favourite movie and favourite TV show?
I love me some good science fiction.

Favorite Movie: Europa Report.

January 2017 009.jpg

I have to split TV into traditional TV and anime. Stargate SG1 and Doctor Who are at the top of my traditional list. For anime, I'm leaning towards Full Metal Panic due to a great balance of being both serious and silly.

-What would your ideal type of day be like?
My ideal days usually involve my hobbies.
A nice spring day so I can work the garden. A still, moonless night with no clouds for star gazing.

-What makes you laugh the most in our strange and funny world?
The funniest things for me tend to be situational and long running.
Best example of this was on my first D&D campaign. I was a lawful good Paladin with a group that was bordering chaotic evil.
I would join the them at the bar to meet a contact. Grab some beer for everyone as I lost a bet earlier. When I returned they had the information they wanted and the contact had went about their way.

Of course they threatened, murdered, looted the contact and disposed of the body.
My character had NO CLUE! This wasn't even deliberate, it just naturally evolved that way.

Occasionally the story they spun was too ridiculous that I would roll to see if I believed them. And I did. Everytime.

Choto:

-When did you start playing?
I joined in 2003.

-What was your very first accomplishment cape?
Quest Cape.
January 2017 010.png

-If I were to visit your country, what do you think I should do first?
I have a soft spot for aquariums. Any time I go on vacation I always want to see their aqaurium.
My wife is so sick of me

Favorite place on Gielinor would probably be Stealing Creation.
I lived there for months at one point and it was the main driving force that pushed me to get 80+ skills. Grab c5 clay, make staff, and blood barrage at enemy gates. Good times.

-Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?
Not really
[Editor's note: As in "Not really" (Lanticex, december 2016)?

-Do you have a very expensive item (party hat, for instance)? If so, do you remember your reaction when you obtained it?
No expensive items. My best chances to get any rare have always coincided with times I wasn't playing.

-Do you play an instrument? If so, which one/s? What's your favoutire music genre?
I am most proficient on the Flute. Also had a few years of Piano and Trombone.
A couple years ago I took up Cello, but that's been hard to keep up with because adult life is busy.

-How many languages do you speak? Which one would you like to learn?
English. I've taken about 5 years of French. Very little vocabulary stuck with me since I've never used it conversationally.

I would like to learn Japanese.

-Best book ever?
My favorite fiction book would have to be from the Iron Druid Chronicles series by Kevin Herne. I deeply appreciate the nerdy humor and shenanigans.
January 2017 011.jpg

My favorite non-fiction book is CODE by Charles Petzold. It lays out how computers work.
Starting with basic circuitry, getting progressively more complex with relays, building logical gates, mathematical processors, and memory. Ultimatley you build up to an instruction processor that interprets machine code (assembly language).

-Tell us the story behind your name!
I actually recounted this tale to my wife a few weeks ago. It was embarrasing.

My friend brought me into the game and all he told me was "you are a mideval hero". When choosing a name I was thinking I want to be a knight.
Initially "Sir Lancelot" came to mind. I thought it was a bit prentious to have Sir in the name so I kept "Lan".

January 2017 012.jpg

Now as far as super powers go, Ice is pretty darn badass. But "Lanice" didn't flow right, so I added a "t". Everything is cooler with an "X".

Thank you all for asking, answering and reading. Happy new year!!!

CLAN QUEST PEOPLE
by Choto and Santa
An Interview with LazyKernel

~!~ ***** ~!~

Hello everyone, happy new year. With us this month we have one of the Finnish noobs Kernel.

Choto:

When did you start playing?

January 2017 013.png

I think it was somewhere around 2009 or 2010 but I no longer play on that account. My current account is created after f2p was released on osrs spring 2015. LazyKernel is actually also my first members account.

What was your very first accomplishment cape?

January 2017 014.png

Quest cape on osrs, fell in love with RS lore while getting it.

Where are you from?

January 2017 015.png

Finland

What are your favourite cities/locations, both in RS and in real life?

January 2017 016.png

I love the style of Prifddinas. I can't really explain why I like it, maybe it's the questline and anticipation leading to unlocking that city or maybe it's the clean and magical aesthetics. Real life? You mean outside? I never go there, it's scary out there D:

Do you have a motto or a favourite phrase? If so, which is it?

Never put off till tomorrow what may be done day after tomorrow just as well. Fits me perfectly and most of the time I need to force myself to do things today and not just put them off. Yes, I'm lazy.

Which quest you believe to be the best?

Too many good quests and I've yet to even complete the most epic RS3 quests. Plague's End was nice and the whole elf questline in general. While Guthix Sleeps was also a feels trip, didn't expect that when I started the quest. I can't really pick one favorite, at least not now.

Do you have a very expensive item (party hat, for instance)? If so, do you remember your reaction when you obtained it?

January 2017 017.png

Nope, I'm very poor because extra gp = xp. I do have many partyhats on osrs but who doesn't.

Do you play an instrument? If so, which one/s? What's your favourite music genre?

Nope. I don't really have a favorite genre.

Tell us the story behind your name!

I had a generic name, LazyEye, for a while but everyone and their sister's cousins have that name. I like unique names, something people instantly connect with you and only you. So what would a young guy who has just learned to code do? Replace Eye with Kernel and have a quite unique name.

How many languages do you speak? Which one would you like to learn?

January 2017 018.png

My native language is Finnish so I obviously know some common phrases. I probably can speak some English as well and I should know Swedish but I don't. I've studied Spanish but I remember literally nothing. I've learned some Russian and Japanese words from friends I found accidentally.

Best book ever?

I'm not sophisticated enough to be able to read anything.

Xenon:

What causes laziness?

Sorry, I have a great ground breaking theory but it's too large to fit in this answer.

Tyco:

What is your earliest memory of Runescape (plz don't say dark wizards)?

January 2017 019.png

Newbie Melody!

You get a ticket to visit Gelinor IRL. Where do you go first?

Makeover Ma... I mean Prifddinas, yes, I'd go to Prifddinas. I would buy all the runes I could get my hands on and do magic all day long and learn crystal singing. Who wouldn't want to be a wizard?

January 2017 020.png

How would you describe yourself in-game? Lazy bankstander, active skiller or perhaps an enthusiastic adventurer?

I like to do different things. One day I might grind bosses, the other day I may bankstand. If I do the same thing too long, I get bored. Whatever I do, I won't keep doing it for long. I like variety!

Thank you all for the question submission, and Kernel for the quick answers. You were a wonderful guy to work with, hassle free and really really speedy 1- icon biggrin.png

RSMV Review

This month we have 99th Hybrid's Hoops by The Rubens. The cinematics are awesome. As the forefront of RSMVs, 99th has always sought creative, out of the box ideas for RSMVs instead of the plain old yellow text and emote types we all know and love. Since JaGex fixed the orb of oculus, he has used it to great effect.

MagazineClanQuest.png
Bulletin - January 2017

2016 was a big year for Clan Quest. At the start of the year we - as clan leadership - set out some goals for the clan, and I think we can say that we are happy with where we have taken the clan over the past twelve months. In short, we wanted to return to our core clan values, and make those clan values accessible to more people more easily.

Early last year we reopened recruitment. We went back to our older system with sponsors and Guardians. This new system has stemmed growth, but we have maintained clan member numbers over the year, and everybody has settled into the new system.

We also started using Discord as communication channel. In just a few months it has grown into an important backbone of the clan, and is being used for day to day communication, events, and not to forget... memes. Discord is a great complement to the offsite to complete our out-game communication, and I am excited to see further growth and new opportunities using Discord.

A goal we did not fulfill this year is the completion of the new offsite. This is still being worked on, and we are hoping to bring it to you early 2017. From this new hub, we are hoping to expand its use, and make it the new entry point to the clan, for both interested guests and returning members. If you have ideas for the website, or wish to contribute, feel free to drop me a message.

September 2016 024.png

We also returned to the old ways of celebration. As Clan Questers, we celebrated our seventh birthday in real Clan Quest style. As a nod back to the prime time of the ETU, we left cabbages wherever we could, and made sure that the world knew of Clan Quest's birthday. We had a great month of events in December as well: set up by Tyco Elf, but helped by a group of clannies, we had an event every day to countdown to Christmas.

Cabbage Bomb 001.png

Last year was a year full of highlights, but we also had some bad news to deal with. In the run-up to Christmas, we heard that one of our long-time clannies, Sinistral, was very ill. Just before Christmas, the family made the hard decision to remove him from the ventilator, and after a last fight, he passed away. Sinistral was known to many of the older members as a cheerful and involved person, and we were devastated to hear from his passing. I cannot say it better than Draz did, so to read more or to find out how to send support to Sinistral's family and friends, check out this thread.

The last thing about 2016 I want to mention is the continued dedication of many of our clan members. The clan is run by volunteers who spend significant parts of their free time to create this amazing place to which you can withdraw after a long day at work or school. Let us all consider their continued effort and be thankful for another year of service, and don't be afraid to show how grateful you are by just saying: "thank you, noob".

And with all that, 2016 has really come to an end. After 366 days and one whole second, we can once again look towards the future. No matter your personal circumstances in 2016 or 2017, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a happy, healthy, and heroic 2017!
