An Announcement on the Magazine

Hello everyone. This is Choto, the current Editor in Chief (I was gonna make the chef pun again but several people would've killed me if I did) of this magazine, the Questaholic. I've talked about the history of the magazine more than once in past issues, so I won't delve into it...too much.

Maybe you haven't noticed, but next month will not only be the first of a brand new year. Next month, the magazine will reach a new milestone. Back in January 2012, Questaholic was featured for the first time in this website. Who would have imagined someone would be talking about that almost 6 years later. I, for one, couldn't have imagined it.

This part of the website, the forum, has been the home of the magazine for those past 6 years. However, the Editors team has decided it is time to move Questaholic's hub to the relatively new wiki. The main argument in favour of this decision is that the wiki has an exhaustive amount of resources that allows the editors to be more flexible at the moment of creating the content. Plus it's fancier and it can be accesed publicly, which also means that the social media team can share it and prospective new members can learn about our clan.

So it's a farewell, but a soft one. Good bye, forums, hello wiki! Thank you, everyone, for the uninterrupted support, and an even bigger thank you to every single editor, past, present and future.

Unhoods.

Bulletin - December 2018

Put on your Christmas jumpers, decorate your Christmas tree, and turn on your fairy lights, it's December again! While our US clannies are still stuffed with turkey and the rest of the world dealing with an empty wallet from all the Black Friday deals, we're already looking ahead at the Christmas holiday season and soon after, the new year!

Website building
Last month I announced that it was now possible to contribute to Clan Quest through code. Being a gaming clan, we naturally attract a relatively high number of people that have affiliation with writing code, so we are hoping to enable a larger group of clan members to support Clan Quest, and in the meantime allow us to boost our development speed on new features we have in mind.

When I announced you can now be a builder, we only had the code for our own Discord bot available. However, over the last month Shane has been working hard and you can now also contribute to our website. For the website, we went ahead and put all our todo-list items in the GitHub issue system, so you can see exactly what we are planning, and pick up issues to help us moving forward.

So if the idea of helping out Clan Quest doesn't sound awesome enough on its own, why would you contribute? There are actually some really compelling reasons to do so. First of all: you get to pick what you work on. If you think it's important to build a feature for our website, talk to us and if we don't see any blocking problem, we'll let you do it. Frustrated with how we don't fix that bug you keep bugging us about, you can now fix it yourself!

Secondly: work experience. All of us here in the Clan Council are happy to provide references for a future job you may want if you have contributed with us some time.

Finally, don't forget the warm fuzzy feeling you will get inside for helping out Clan Quest. We're really a community of people where everything is done by volunteers.

So what are you waiting for? Be awesome, write some code, and make all of Clan Quest more awesome!

Volunteering in Clan Quest
I hear you thinking: but what if I can't write code? I want to reiterate that all that I've said above applies to any time you may put into Clan Quest. We're happy to help you gain more experience if you think that'd help your career. We'll invent new roles for you if we have to (within reasonable limits)! Remember that this clan has members of all ages, so don't hesitate to reach out to your seniors, they may have some life and career lessons ready for you.

If you have no idea where to even start with volunteering, just DM one of the Clan Council members and we're happy to help you in every possible way.

Time to shine
Have you always wanted a spot in the spotlight? Search no longer, because every month we feature one user page from the wiki in the magazine. That user page also gets a prominent spot on the wiki frontpage. This is your chance to answer those interview questions you never got, to pose for a picture that you could never share, and to style your life story any way you want. The only thing you need to do, is create your own userpage. It is a super simple process, and it allows other clannies to learn more about you.

I would really like if we had a userpage for every single member of Clan Quest. Many people care about you and would love to know a bit more about who you are and what you like. I myself am super interesting in everything that happens in the clan's past, so I'll read the history sections on your userpages whenever they come online. So head to the wiki and write your page!

Holiday wishes
I want to end with some early holiday wishes to everybody. Christmas is a time to be with family. We all know that Clan Quest is family too, but don't let that stop your from spending time with the people who are dear to you. We'll be there before, during, and after Christmas when you need us. I am truly thankful for everything that Clan Quest has given me, and it is a gift that just keeps on giving. So to all of you: an early Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

QUESTAHOLIC PRESENTS

A cooperative interview with Leo and Ytse

Hoods everyone. And surprise! Here is the first ever recorded interview with two clannies at the same time! I must admit this was way too stressful. Recording with the knowledge my computer would possibly die, and a bad internet connection, and a noob mic and many more things was not very nice. You'll find a lot of mistakes, and even a sudden moment of madness from a music bot. So yes, sorry in advance. But hey! At least we had some fun with this. We hope you lot enjoy it!

In December 2009...
On the 8th of the month, Clan Quest was approved as an "official" Clan by Jagex. At the time there was no official Clan system in place, and so this recognition was an important stepping stone in the legitimization of the Clan on RuneScape. Around this time the Clan grew to approximately 40 members, a mere month after its formation. later in the month, one of the first major public Clan events was held in the form of an ingame wedding between Draziw and Sethron.

In December 2010...
Throughout the entire month, the first ever official "Clan Quest Secret Santa" event was held. On the 18th of the month, the first discussions began to update the Clan's "darkbb" website to something stronger and more personalized. This would result in the formation of clanquest.org. By the end of the month, on the 30th, the "Joy Spreaders" role had been officialized. The role was largely used to give more authority to members who were, at that time, not eligible to join the Low Council.

In December 2012...
On the 2nd of the month, the official Clan Quest bank was formed after a successful ingame "auction" event. A Christmas party was held where the official Secret Santa Event was held on the 23rd.

In December 2013...
Throughout the month of December, and into early January, Miss Alaska led Clan Quest's participation in the official "15 days of Christmas" competition hosted by Jagex. This contest resulted in the creation of the Clan Quest pantomime.

In December 2014...
The ninth official recruitment thread ("T9") for the RuneScape 3 Guild was posted on the 12th.

In December 2015...
The first official issue of the relaunched Questaholic Magazine is released. The issues leading up to the "official" rerelease were interviews only, and so the December 2015 issue was celebrated as the first full "Questaholic" in the relaunch.

Welcome back, noobs! This month we’ve had only two nominees: Draziw and Choto

I nominate Choto for stepping up and spearheading the advancement of the OSRS Guild. It's had a rough launch but there's been significant progress since he became Head of Guild Council.

If I wrote the motivation for RAWR winners, it would sound a little something like this:
"Whether it's magazine related or guild related, Choto tirelessly puts in effort for the benefit of the entire clan. Sometimes through friendly reminders (ruthless spam), or in this case, stepping up to take on the difficult role of Head of Guild Council. Not because the guild needed it, and not because the clan benefits from it, but because that's simply the kind of person he is."

This nomination was seconded by Tyco, Derp and Slayer

It seems you two love me so much that you need more spam!

Anyway, thank you guys for putting up with me, but I wanna take the chance to make a nomination myself.

Oza mentioned that I spearheaded the guild, and that has a share of truth. But the reality is that I couldn't done any of this without Draziw.

Draz has guided me through the entirety of the process, and he still does. He has commited to help in several ways and has mantained an impressive level of dedication. Yes, we have fought, we (mainly he) have yelled at each other and we've had our disagreements. But there are many things that me in particular, but the clan in general, couldn't have done without him. I know the osrs guild has a lot to thank him for.

The judges chose:

Congratulations!

Wait a second... -You may say- What are the RAWR Awards??
Check this link!

PS: Please remember no clannie is better than other just because they won a RAWR edition. You're already a winner if you made it to this thread, because it means you care about others and make our clan a better place every day. Congratulations to Draz as well!
